Fred the labrador has completed his 4 week residential training stay.
He’s a lovely boy and such a character but he has struggled with being nervous and easily overwhelmed since a young puppy.
This has become increasingly difficult as he would bark and lunge at other dogs, people, and anything that scared him. It has meant Fred can’t join his owners on busy walks or trips to different places.
During his training, we worked on building Fred’s confidence and teaching him the skills to cope better with new situations. We also worked on his skills around dogs and people, helping him to feel more in control and reducing his need to react with barking and lunging.
Fred is a wonderful dog, who just wants to please and benefits hugely from support from his owners. He’s now able to walk in a variety of places and it’s no longer a struggle to be out in busier locations. He’s feeling more confident around dogs and able to make decisions and think calmly, this has enabled him to pass dogs in close proximity and greet some dogs where appropriate.
We’ve loved having Fred to stay and look forward to following his ongoing progress
