Hi, thank you for the video. Can one use say a Temp switch (thermostat in oil radiator) to output the signal to the module to control the speed of the fan?

It's best to use an Arduino for that. See my Arduino videos on this channel.

Thank you for your excellent presentation. I have a 2005 Mazda MPV ES. The radiator cooling fan it's a dual fan system. One of the fan not working, the other it is OK. The fan that doesn't working has 4 wires. How to test that fan with 4 wires to make sure it's bad?

I have cuestion please sr. I have a DS 213 mini osciloscopio and I am just wondering if it would be possible to use the "waveform generator" function to put frequency or to do something similar like PWM. I am not totally sure about it. Thank you for this video tutorial.
@ADPTraining4 жыл бұрын
No, a waveform generator will never give you PWM. Not even a 555 timer will give you PWM. Pulse width modulation needs a dedicated circuit. See my PWM BI Directional Controller . www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/pulse_width_pwm_controller_driver.html

so what you do if you dont have this performant machinery to test the module, im sure most of viewers dont have this so can you replicate the pwm signal trough a rc radio receiver ? they work on pwm signal, was curious if I can have same result.
@ADPTraining4 жыл бұрын
If you don't have this unit you end up replacing the parts. If that doesn't solve your issue, then your loss. If you work on your own car or are a professional technician, then you need your tools. @@ADPTraining Thank you for reply, you should make a KZbin showing how to test the fan control module by a simple way, multi meter (which everyone have), that will be very useful and many people will watch it.

I have mitsubishi outlander 2003 ( first model), used this module. Fans not working, I suspect control module but find that carbon brushes inside fan motors have worn down to zero and commutator damaged in the process. Car has 220,000km assume original fans, so can expect fans brushes to need replace around 200,000km. I have not yet tried control unit on new fans so dont know if it has damage also. Fan motors not really designed to take apart but can do fairly easily just by bend out metal where its pressed in on rear of motor. Regarding video, excellent info, would be interesting to see what signal the ecu of a car actually outputs to control the fan, that pulsing of the motor speed at certain on/off percentages of the pwm I would doubt is used by ecu, I dont think the fans pulse the speeds in a car.......I could be wrong.

I'm hoping to use one of these Fan control modules in an older car. Can i hook the trigger wire to a temp sender or override switch if i don't have an ecm?
@ADPTraining6 жыл бұрын
Yes, to a temp SWITCH, not a sensor. The switch has to be calibrated to say 180 deg F. This is s typical fan turn on temp.
@ADPTraining6 жыл бұрын
Also, see my series on Arduino. You can do all that with a $10 Arduino.

@DennisGentry3 жыл бұрын
@@florentviolleau6716 That particular Fan Control Module (Gates FCM102 is an aftermarket version, can't find the Calsonic Kansei original) doesn't output different signals for the two fans. The two two-pin connectors, one on the bottom, one on the side, are so it can control two fans, but they both get the same voltage. Check the block diagram and explanation at 1:12.

Sir ,, if the fan is prematurely engaged. Is it the premature signal from ECU? Or the module is bad? Share ur opinion sir.. Thanks

This is great -- it let me confirm what I was guessing about this dumb FCM which seems to give out regularly. I'm thinking of interpreting the PWM with an arduino-like microcontroller and driving my own big fat super-low-resistance FETs to run the fans.
