Radiators are next to the drivers legs, the vents in the sidepods are for the air to escape. I think maybe the oil cooler is under the rear wing, and rear brakes usually have small independent ducts, can’t recall if they’re onboard or outboard on the 312b3 though.

It's such a shame we never get to see these cars really driven in anger anymore. Like, I get it - they're basically one of a kind, and spares are hard to come by. But I'd truly love to see a new formula of racing where you've got H pattern gearboxes, super basic aero and a small variety of engines (V8-12). I'm not sure many drivers coming up in junior formula even know how to heel and toe!

I agree about everything but the gearboxes. Flappy-paddle, sequential shifting is a safety feature as much as anything. Can't see them ever reverting in Formula racing.

@@RabidJohn you say that, it's just I was listening to an old Motorsport Magazine podcast with Frank Dernie and he has a theory that predominately overtaking is blunted by paddle shifting and the lack of talent needed to do it. That a lot of overtakes happened back in the day due in part to people fluffing a gear change (Piquet/Mansell Brands '86 being an obvious example). He also said that if it was the fault of aero entirely why wasn't there a huge increase in overtakes once the '83 season started with the simplification of aero and ground effect. But there wasn't any more overtakes that season than compared with prior seasons, so it's not entirely down to downforce. I thought, you might be onto something!

Guys, you should really red the books about the sport you are selling. *Ferrari 312 B3 did not win the championship*, as it raced in 1974. The first Lauda's championship arrived in 1975, with the 312 T.

flat, or flatplane, in this case is referring to the crankshaft layout. the other is crossplane. differences are one is better for higher RPM while other is better for low-end torque edit: as well as producing different sounds

During the interview, the journalist pronounces the word 'Ferrari' only once at the beginning, Newey never says 'Ferrari'. Then they only talk about Niki Lauda and luckily around 3:30, there at least is a mention of Mario Forghieri. This is how Ferrari is used by the media, by the F1 and by most British managers of the automotive sector, it is only a powerful marketing word used to attract people. If today Mr Newey could drive this famous and unique car, it is thanks to Mr Enzo Ferrari, to Mr Mario Forghieri, to the Italian creativity, and finally to Niky Lauda who drove it perfectly. But I did not hear all these... It is like visiting the Cappella Sistina and forgetting to mention Michelangelo...

Actually, that is the 1974 car, with which he should have won. He was leading the championship and the British GP, when he got a flat tyre and hardly scored any points after that. Regazzoni nearly won instead!
