It's 2020.....The 8-Bit Guy hasn't been seen in months, except for in the form of near daily half hour long unboxing videos. His house is now completely full of "Old Commodore Stuff", the walls no longer visible, the floor now a narrow path between towers of non functioning 80s computers and collumns of floppy disk drives. His wife and kids serve almost exclusively to go to pick up new packages from the post office. He sleeps on a pile of bubble wrap just out of view of the camera, all of his waking hours consumed by opening packages. This is his future.

David, your show.... - you said in this video you don't yet know what those tools are you were sent. The blue folding pocket with a few tools are tools for opening latch closed devices like tablets, cell phones, etc. I bought that exact folding blue pouch of tools myself just recently (serendipity?), from Amazon, and use them for that purpose (ie opening devices). Basically you insert a fine blade (ie metal, nylon, plastic) on those tools into a seam in the device and pry it open, carefully!), hopefully in a way that doesn't damage the device or marr it up any. The device can be closed back up simply by pressing the pieces back together. I love your show and the shared nostalgia experiences you have (my first real computer was a vic-20 and I later got a commodore 64 and computed for decades with it. Thanks and best wishes! The Commodore 16 Datasette is the same as the C64 Datasette, just with a different color scheme and a different connector. It is possible to make an adapter to use a C64 Datasette with a C16, although the opposite adapter is more common to find, because the C16 and Plus/4 were not big sellers, so apparently Commodore had an overstock of the matching brown Datasettes that C64 owners adapted to use -- or perhaps because many C16 and Plus/4 owners upgraded to a C64 but wanted to keep their original Datasette.

Here in Canada we use the SAME plug as you guys in the States...and living in London, Ontario too we most certainly dont use Euro plugs anywhere. My guess is he got the C16 euro shipped to him from the UK way back but used an adapter for Canada but didnt send you the adapter he was using since that can still be handy to him (at least that is what i would have done).

I have also begun studying pcb basics in my spare time as well, because your video on BASIC and the 6502 chip was such a captivating look into the early days of 8 bit technology, that I was compelled to research it further. I had always wanted to learn this stuff, but never knew where to start until I came across your channel, so I just had to leave a comment to say THANK YOU DAVE! After I get some experience under my belt, I hope to be confident enough to repair whatever is wrong with my Sharp 19SV111 on my own, which I had never thought possible before. If you are ever lucky enough to get your hands on a 19SV111 yourself, I'd love to see a video about it, because it is such a unique and interesting piece of 8 bit history.

Koodos to all the generous viewers. You restore my faith in humanity. And I remember the Commodore 1200 baud modem. It was my very first modem and you were dead on about it. All my friends who were on BBSes had 300 baud modems, so mine was the fastest. It cost me $115CDN at the time and got me started online to this day. I ended up running my own BBS with it using a variety of BBS software like EBBS for the C64 as well as others and eventually also ran BBSes on my Amiga later on. Good times. I'm a little jealous about those TRS80 games. It was one of the first computers I ever used, the TRS80 model 1 and 2 mainly. I recall LANDER being a great game on it as well as some Star Trek ones and it started me programming. My first game I made was a Lander game on the TRS-80 actually.
