This set is basically the same as the 180 set of Brutfuners, in case anyone is looking to buy them and wants to compare prices. The barrels, colour names and numbers all match up; the only difference I can see is the brand name on the coloured part of the barrel and the design of the metal box they come in. The 180 Brutfuners are a nice pencil, but completely different than the 120 square set in terms of both colours and the feel as they lay down on the paper.

I agree with you about the tin being hard to get the trays out , I like the tin itself so I saved mine to store my distressed inks and pads in and it was perfect for that. I really was pleased with the kalour pencils.

I got this set of Kalour pencils a day before my daughter asked me to go to San Diego, so unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to swatch them but I was so happy to live vicariously through you swatching your set…lol. They look lovely. I just looked on Amazon UK for them, we only have the 180 set and not the bigger set. I love your colour swatch book, I'll have to see if we have anything like that in the UK. I also love the idea of keeping the pencils in a material case like yours. It's so bulky having them in a big tin.

The 180 set is a better quality pencil…unless you are a collector of colored pencils and want both sets…

The RubyCharmsColors Big Book of Swatches is available on UK Amazon. Karen is using the new artist edition which has ring binding and better paper. I just have the standard copy, but I don't mind because I love it. I use it every day.

Thank you for sharing your Kalour colored pencil swatching and experience with us. They sound like they are a nice alternative to Prismacolor pencils. Have you tried out the new Derwent Metallic pencils? They have an updated version to what they used to have; a 12 set and a 20 set Anniversary edition. I only bought the 12 set because I didn't know if I'd actually like them or not, but they are gorgeous and have a smooth lay down. I should have known better with it being Derwent and just bought the 20 Anniversary set.

Hi Karen. The "OU" in the name "KALOUR" has the same sound as the "OO" in the word "COOL". So OU and OO is pronounced the same way. ;^)

Just now wanted to purchase a tin of Brutfuner 180 off Amazon. There were two different prices and when I look closer (the tins are the same black with elephants), one tin said Kalour and the other tin has no name on the outside. All other information on the tins are the same. Also the same are the pencils, barrels fully coloured the colour of the lead. NO black barrels. What is going on?

Hi Karen, you know if your daughter thinks there are not enough pinks she might want to look into getting the KALOUR 240 pencils I believe is the next size up an I believe they have increased the pink's... LoL 🤣🤣🤣

Aside from being electric & quicker, does that Afmat work any better than the manual Dahle 133 that you also have? Nice price for 180 set, however, I find that when there are so many colors in a set, there's many that are so close in color, such as the case with these Kalour.

They work the same, but because of my wrist problem I had to get the electric one instead of the hand crank...

I have not had any time yet to play with these pencils, but the lay down is smoother than the castle arts, I did not compare with the Brutfuners, and I do not have a set of Soucolors...

I got the brutfuner on amazon on a lightening deal that’s over at 3 am for 15.15$ for the 120 square I hope they’re ok I really don’t need them I have all high end but I’m a painter and just learning about coloring and blending pencils lol so using my polychromos isn’t really a great idea for just playing and learrning
