a little research into these pencils there are a few attributes to this set that you should mention . the team that collaborated to put this set together are colorists. and they have addressed a few annoying things the barrels are matte and matched as close to lead colors as possible, the font is large and in black not silver. they are numbered, named and indicates color family ie.. yg, rb pb.... they are also set in the box in a specific order.... the first are your gradient trios , then the 8 most vibrant purest pigments, then the pastel colors, then the skin tones and correction tones and finally your Grey's. no white no metallic colors. it would be nice to mention how this set was designed specifically for colorists, by colorists.

Jewel tones are referenced by the letter j. These were meant to be colors that are perfectly balanced between warm and cold colors. So true red, green, and black for example. I like their clarity. Also the colors that are marked Mk are muted colors and pastels. There are also the Cc colors. These pastel colors are color corrected. They can be used to change the tones of warm to cool. Or the reverse. Hope that helps. It's kind of fun. I already know how to tell the difference between warm and cool and colors that are balanced, like the Jewel colors. Many of us do. But its still fun to play with. They are a nice budget set.

I was just thinking how nice your nails looked Karen,colour coordinated with the tin.I have these pencils n get a little confused with the colour range n have to admit I really haven’t used them only the once so I think I need to explore them more…….Thankyou for sharing,stay well n Happy Colouring ❤️

Karen 💖 I love swatching videos and this one is no exception…I was given these pencils from our friend Becky but I haven’t had a second to swatch mine yet but I sure want to now after seeing all the beautiful colors! You made me laugh when you said, Plastic tin thingy…lol but I’m with you as I can’t stand the plastic trays either, they give me the heebie geebies…lol. A lot of the names on the Star Joy Gold pencils came from the viewers in Lori’s videos while creating said pencils, so it’s not surprising how some of the names came about…I’m looking forward to see what you decide to color with these pencils, what do you think of them, I know it’s hard to get a feel just swatching but what do you think about the colors and how they feel when on paper? Just to let you know, I bought the U.K. ones because I got fed up of waiting. I was missing warm grey 1 and got two warm grey 2! I see you got two warm grey 3. I told Andy about this and that is when he found out that the seller on amazon U.K. was not him! It was when I asked him to send me a warm grey 1. He told me they did not have any warm grey 1 in stock, ridiculous, don't they manufacture them! I wonder if anyone else has mixed up greys? maybe we will have to swap with each other. LOL

Are these ever available on the US amazon site. I have been trying to purchase these since Lori launched them!! The seller on amazon U.K. is not Andy, and these started at over $120 on there, and are around £78 now. I think that we cannot get them from the US site, we don't ever see a price and they are always unavailable. Trying to buy them for that long is ridiculous. It is about time Andy launched the real ones on amazon U.K.

Thank you for swatching. Are any of the pale greens like the Prismacolor Pale Sage? I use mainly FC Polychromos and Prismacolor. Could you comment on the odor of the pencils? I find the regular Castle Arts colored pencils have a very strong chemical odor.

There is one called Pale Sage, and is close to the Pale Sage in Prismacolor, no odor on the pencils there is a touch on the foam liner but that can either be washed or removed ...
