I know right. This being released at around the same time that Boondocks was airing and Adult Swim rebranding and signing acts like Madlib AND Danger Doom releasing was a perfect powder keg to allow alternative Hip-Hop explode.

This was the promo back in 2005 or somewhere in the mid 2000's that had me buy Samurai Champloo as my first anime collection ever. I've been into anime since I was a kid back in the 80's/90's i;e Robotech, Fist of the North Star, Speed Racer, Astro Boy, Dragon Ball Z, Ninja Scroll, etc. Samurai Champloo had a dope concept by mixing hip-hop beats to the story line, characters, and action of the show and I think that was why I really got into it. I didn't start buying the music for the show until I actually got to Japan from 2008 to 2012 when the you could buy the series music from Tower Records. Props to the show, the voice actors behind the characters of the show, Fat Jon, Shing02, and R.I.P to the homey Nujabes, he made some of the illest beats for Samurai Champloo.

This and bebop were damn good, both had steve blum voice acting as well. Mixing jazz in bebop and hip hop in champloo as part of the shows themes was genius.

They didnt discontinue it. The series only had 26 episodes and the story was over. There would be no real reason for the show to go on. They also may have lost the license to play certain episodes sinces they did not create nor own the show.
