But everyone could tell just from it's test pilot that it would've been one of the greatest Adult Swim shows ever produced. It's a shame that Adult Swim never took a chance with that one, it likely would've paid for itself in the ratings.

@Imnotoriginal001Ай бұрын
@@tausifrfr3 years too late to respond to this, but as I understand it Adult Swim isn’t a channel just it’s own block within Cartoon Network, and it has its own block Toonami for anime after a certain time. It’s less about the channel and more about the vibe that Adult Swim had, especially when I was growing up during the early 2000s. I would say it’s both weird and new while also being very calming and cozy. Kind of a Time Capsule of nostalgia for childhood.

3:40 you nailed it there. AS wasn't just a channel that had weird shows. The entire block was like one big variety show, and the host would crack jokes through the bumps and played some of that AMAZING underground music. I remember as a kid trying to get my parents and friends into it (they liked South Park and the Simpsons so I figured they'd like AS) but they always said it was just too weird or on too late. But I grew up on that shit, and its molded much of my sense of humor. AS was like an underground night/comedy club that only a few knew about or could get in. It had a pirate radio station feel to it. And overall, its just incredible (although today I think it lacks some of that old school aesthetic )

Now that’s respectable, and from what I’ve seen on my occasions of seeing this fascinating channel they have continued to have Toonami be the block for more mature anime and action-oriented cartoons! And what they shown with Genndy Tartokvsky’s Samurai Jack Season 5 and his new series Primal, it just helps further show their diversity in their content!

Thank you. I've been reminded how much the channel meant to me not just the shows. I always hoped they'd show just one more [as] title slide.

RTJ being friends with Adult Swim, as well as them making a Live Stream of their 4th album for young people to Vote and eat Ice Cream, is amazing and shows that they can do Music Video content what MTV doesn't. Amazing. Also, I love Space Ghost C2C, Robot Chicken, Rick & Morty, Aqua Team, and some experimental horror shorts on the block.

I'm really not a crier, but I've watched this video about once a year for the past 6 years, and event time I do I tear up. This video, more than any other ones I've watched made my feeling known, and in such a succinct manner. I feel bad for having a fucking video about a giant TV network shake me up so much, but [AS] has done so much for so many people, and I can't imagine how much bleaker our world would be without them.

So many memories...I remember the very first night adult swim aired. I used to stay up watching the Chuck Jones cartoon specials and the experimental cartoons (I am Weasl, the Kids Next door first ever promo, the boy and the chimp, whatever happened to robot jones's first EVER airing as special programming) and then one night, everyrhing changed. Adult Swim came.

Metalocalypse still needs to at least finish the story. Even if it were another hour long bit, that'd be great. But yeah, been watching Adult Swim programming since I was ten, when it first appeared late night on Adult Swim. It's been a great ride so far. At times however, fucking weird man.

***** Because he's a chump who's in the odd mindset of "All [adult swim] shows are trash, save for Morel Oral and Rick & Morty" Basically, super generalizing and simply not "getting it" Sure it's his opinion, but he doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time. Dude sees Mr. Pickles are the "standard" of [as] for some reason, and therefore he manipulates his audience to think that "[as] is all trash!". It's a very late 2000s/early 2010s mindset that is very TGWTG, which is a bad thing.
@JCOdrjones8 жыл бұрын
+ParaChomp But isn't that what life needs sometimes? A lack of restraint? Sure, some things are better with it, but with these artists lacking that leash that holds them back have lead to extremely creative products, like Moral Orel and Rick & Morty. Hell, 12 oz Mouse is the crudest looking show ever, yet it had an ongoing mystery storyline that was actually very well thought out and it gained fans who wanted to uncover said mystery. That's what I respect about [as], it strives on creativity, where the biggest limits are your mind, your budget, and your talent. Not everything on [as] is a hit, but at least it gave something a chance to be a hit.
@JCOdrjones8 жыл бұрын
+ParaChomp Almost no one goes out to make a full on bad product unless they've trying to make pure schlock or a pure cash grab. Though a good product can come out of almost anything if it's done right.
@JCOdrjones8 жыл бұрын
+ParaChomp Oh hell yeah, 100 and 20% agree with you there boyo. But for Enter to generalize the entirety of [as] as a 99% bad network block, convincing his audience through very biased logic, and all around not actually seeing any worth by thinking there is none instead of just not admitting to not understanding [as] is just disheartening.

To be honest I agree but i'm not the biggest fan of Adult Swim. I can give it credit for a lot of things and I do like some of their shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force but in general i'm not the biggest fan of it.(Though some shows like Rick & Morty are solid and it did bring Toonami back so i'll give it that.)

This may be my favorite video on KZbin. I never realized how glad I am that I encountered Adult Swim at a young age when it was new and how happy I am that it has continued to reshape television. It is responsible for my sense of humor and it introduced me to one of my favorite forms of media, mature anime. Thank you, Adult Swim, and thank you #kaptainkristian for this awesome tribute.
