I am an adult who was adopted as an adult. I grew up without a father, and a very close family friend inadvertently stepped in to fill that role, so we made it official when I was 20. I recall part of the process being that we had to basically prove that we were not in a romantic relationship. I found that thought very odd and gross, but submitted the sworn statement to the court without contest because, well, OF COURSE I'm not in a romantic relationship with the man I consider my dad???!!!!! And now seeing this... It makes me sick to my stomach that there are actually predators out there trying to take advantage of the adult adoption process.

i had a girlfriend through highschool and for a few years afterwards and growing up she had a friend who was just, behind in the education department but was fully capable and not lacking in her facilities, her parents just never took her to school till way too late. she ended up living even in my house for weeks or months at a time at one point and although she was the oldest person in the house beside my mom she was below even my 11 year old brother in maturity. I never wish anything bad upon her but she was by and far the worst person ive ever had to spend long periods with. she and my now ex had fallen out and recently i was told that 40-50 year old couple legally adopted her (then 24) and try and ground her, keep her from any form of finance or outside communication and also try to physically punishing her like spanking and shit. and then i find out that the woman cant have kids and these people literally adopted her to be the bearer of their child. after legally adopting her as their "Child" and they are literally grooming and manipulating her into thinking its normal, not even sure if its for a kid or the 50 year old creep just wants to have sex... its been 2 years and even as someone non religious i can only pray she got out. They had her"grounded" so bad that we didn't have any idea (and neither did she) as to what state they lived in after moving twice, and she didnt even seem concerned about it anymore despite hearing them literally pounding on the door to stop talking to people whenever she got on the phone with us. We have reported her situation to police but very few even seem concerned and even less say there's anything we can do about the situation especially as nobody has a number or address to even contact her. Had hoped her situation was unique and that others arent being treated the same. but this video shows thats obviously not quite the case..

I think the worst part of this whole situation is the fact that Danny is working, and his plan was to have Christy take care of the heavily pregnant 20 year old and take her to appointments etc. Not only is she bending her own heart out of whack for him to adopt a grown ass woman, but he expects her to look after this woman too. Seriously he could not be more of a scumbag.
