Most of these are those old laws that had a reason that made sense at one point but dont any longer but they are so buried that no one has thought it necessary to remove them but no one really enforces them. Its hard to remove laws unfortunately so most just choose to ignore them

The pickle one is bc I guess a rotten pickle doesn’t bounce. It was put into effect bc some people were selling in edible pickles. They did tests to find out a way to figure out the inedible from edible ones, they found out the inedible ones do not bounce. I think the law came out in either the 40’s or 50’s.

The Louisiana law actually prohibits the unauthorized ordering of goods and services. The law protects the person who receives a pizza delivery by surprise from having to pay for it. You can still surprise someone with a pizza if you pay for it in advance.

This is a great episode, they should definitely make this a long running series on this channel. For those crazy ass stupid laws that are really, they should also be researched thoroughly and include the origins of these ridiculous and outdated laws, as I'm definitely certain most of us are wondering when we hear these laws in the first place. I mean clearly the first thing that pops into our heads when we hear most, if not all of these, is WTF!? How,...? Why,...!? HUH!? That's one thing that I really like about a lot of the REACT channel series and episodes, is how educational they actually are, or otherwise can be, while still being highly entertaining.

The whole idiots can't vote thing is actually just bad language choice. There are actually other places as well where a court can be asked to declare a person mentally incompetent in numerous capacities including placing them under some form guardianship and/or revoking their voting rights. The voting rights are a separate point of ruling however, so it has to be specified in a court's judgment. And it does make sense. People are required to reach a certain age in order to vote, so if a person is sufficiently handicapped that they are not mentally or emotionally beyond the relative age of a grade school student, they can't really be said to have reached the maturity needed to judge such things. That said, it is a major right and thus again has to be specifically identified as a right to be revoked.
