I discovered this show almost two years ago, soon after the birth of my second son. It was 4 am, I had slept about eight hours in the past 3 days, my son wasn't going to sleep and this came on the screen. I was entirely convinced that my brain had finally snapped and that this was what losing track reality was like.

It was 2004 and I’d just had my 3rd kid. He was born just a year after my 2nd, and it was a constant round of nappies and milk bottles. Combined with a husband who worked away from home and nobody to help, I was shattered. Anyway, I discovered Reno 911 during those wee hours I’m the night I was up. Cheered me right up. So, not exactly the same as you, but it’s amazing the new things you can watch when you’re up when normal folk are sleeping.

This implies that the universe must first be created to have all the energy, atoms and molecules made from those atoms, and thus the tools to create such a "simple" thing as an apple pie. It signifies the entire point that Carl wishes to teach the viewers of his show "Cosmos", the show where those clips were taken from. Things are so much more intricate and complex than they appear at plain sight. Once you have understanding of that, life, living and everything around you becomes infinitely more beautiful. Came back to this. DK why. Adult Swim shaped my mind. Late at night I'd stay up with my dad and just watch shows on the couch with him, starting when I was like 11. It made my humor, but it also instilled an appreciation for this. Spoken but unspoken, like poetry but a film. Adult Swim was not only a place for funny stuff, it was also an outlet for misfit creators with a vision that wouldn't make it to any other mainstream channel. Late at night, from the bumps to these shorts, I was immersed in an unspoken beauty and understanding.
