Prior to the matrix, Jeff Lew created a 3D animated short called Killer Bean. It was only about 5mins long, but it became pretty famous among 3D artists. The fans kept pushing him to make more, but by that point his career was shooting off. He worked on the Matrix and several other things, and this movie was something he did in his free time. So when it finally came out, the CG was rather dated. But it's insane he did a whole movie almost entirely by himself!

idk why this video kind of broke me. i think this much be the yms video i've watched the most. scoot really is too funny. like, the funniest person i've seen. i got really sad that i won't hear his jokes again. i realized i've started talking like him because i watched these videos so much. it really is too sad. everyone who knew him must be even sadder, i can't even imagine it.

A friend of mine does animation and digital modeling on the side just as a hobby. (And he's helped out and done a little uncredited design work for a few no-budget indie projects, though nothing major.) I remember him showing me this movie (and the two original shorts) one night while we were drinking and hanging out. Ton of fun to watch with friends, and it was really interesting to watch with someone who is into animation and effects. It really is impressive that such a small group of people (mainly lead by one man with a vision) were able to put together a feature-length animated film of this quality. And the movie itself is a lot of fun.
