I get that though, I’d be mad, too. personally, what I get mad about is mediocre movies like this making money. sure, I like action, but if it’s just “ooh big explosions! hot people!” then I get really bored cause there’s nothing to think about except how nothing makes sense or means anything, but when that kind of stuff makes money, then that means more movies like that get made, and I get less movie options at the movie theater.

"Did anything happen in the movie?" I don't think you guys understand how little actually happens in these books. I've read every book in this series and every single one is 90% Bella slice of life bs, 10% actual conflict. Dead serious, in New Moon they only introduce the conflict less than 50 pages before the end of the book. Stephanie Myer doesn't give a shit about giving these stories actual antagonists, for all that she pretends to. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn spend most of their page counts ignoring the fact that there is an inbound threat so Bella and Edward can have more vapid, unrealistic, flavorless "quality time." Also, as much as I hate Kristen Stewart, I can't really blame her for her performance in this. It's hard to portray a character that has no discernable traits. Bella Swan isn't meant to be a real character, she's a caricature. She's just an easy way for preteen girls and Stephanie Meyer to pretend that Edward loves them.

Honestly, I don't get the praise Kristen Stewart's getting lately. As you pointed out, she keeps using the same mannerisms in every movie - which might not be that obvious if the dialogue and direction are somewhat decent, but still. As far as I can see, from the female cast of Twilight, Anna Kendrick is the true standout performer, and there isn't a role Stewart's played ever since that she wouldn't have played more convincingly. Robert Pattinson, on the other hand, is really becoming a great, versatile actor, and I'm glad he got rid of that stereotype.
@weregretohio77284 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't get it. People seem to either defend her because "people view her negatively because of Twilight" or because "she's hot/hotter than people think." Never heard that kind of public defense for Pattinson (more like they try to ignore him being in Twilight) and yet he and Kendrick are way better.
@darnbricks4 жыл бұрын
@@weregretohio7728 Even during her Twilight tenure, people were telling me: 'Okay, she sucks in this trash, but she was good in Panic Room and Into the Wild.' No, she wasn't. She was decent, which is apparently the most anyone can expect from her.
@toetotipthatsabart50484 жыл бұрын
I think she’s fairly good, but Twilight is her best performance if you talk about book adaptation. Because if you read the book, Bella NEVER describes herself emoting, she’s often quiet, and she is constantly trying to subdue herself.

To be honest I can imagine Anna Kendrick (who in this movie played Jessica and we now know to be a talented actress) playing a more interesting Bella. But there's only so much one can work with. I can safely say this was a 'perfect' adaptation of these characters as far as the books are concerned, but I would have preferred if they strayed from the books to just make them more interesting and fun to watch. Sometimes a one-for-one adaptation can be a detriment.
