It’s so refreshing to listen to your videos as you simply tell the naked truth! I’m so tired of motorcycle journalists complaining about displays not big enough instead of motorcycles getting bigger, heavier and more expensive. Keep doing this! Even if I don’t agree with everything you said, it’s good to hear a different perspective!

Hey my friend. Spoke to you before. I always laugh when people say they’re going to buy a 500 pound dirtbike. I live on the East Coast and if you think you’re going to run that through our pine trees and over our roots, you are sadly mistaken. I had a tough time with my DR 650..

you can still count the true ADV bikes on one hand i think in many ways, most at best i would call adventure tourers. one i missed is the new Benelli 525 which they have done something i have been saying for a while, instead of building bigger, they just turned up the firepower on the 500, it is still available in A2 47hp form, but is also available as a 60 plus hp version, now they just need to make it lighter :-)

well that was the best grumpy english style moan i have heard from someone using borrowed footage who has never ridden a single one of the bikes he talks about in a wobbly voice.. I own currently 14 bikes 11 of them big bikes, one of them a himalayan, a harley 1200 sportster, 2 mv agusta brutales (1090, and an 800 rosso) four ducatis (2 monsters, a scrambler cafë and a 2022 nightshift) a yamaha xsr, a diablo 650 gt custom with an enfield 650 engine from k tech custom Thailand, … errr.. a benelli trk 502x .. cant remember the rest at the moment. Anyway my point is, i had to ride each bike for many days until i learned how the riding style of each bike is, and what the pros and cons are. hence, this dued dont know nothing as he never ride any of these bikes.. iam 58 and was racing mx atage ten, own many bikes.. maybe i should start doing some reviews

Great Video! Interesting discussions about weight. I currently have a 390 Adventure and have been searching for something as light and nimble but with more low end grunt and slightly more comfortable suspension but can't find any bike even close. This video confirms my findings and to me the weight is a key factor.

In some ways i think the closest offering at the minute would be the Beta 4 Alp. so much lighter than the oppposition. 140kg, and you get about 35HP from the 350 single. but they do like to rev so its a lively little thing, think an updated DR350 :-) great suspension and a real dirt bike chassis

I’ve always been on the cutting edge and have ridden mostly Ducati, KTM, Husqvarna and BMW. But now I’m 75 and ride a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that I converted to a scrambler. So simple and easy to maintain. It’s not a perfect bike, the instruments fog and the finish is poor compared to other bikes. It’s heavy but one can easily shave off 40 pounds. Anyway, it’s got half the horsepower of my previous bikes but I’m happy with it.

The CFmoto 450MT manual that has been available for a few weeks now says that it's 185kg curb weight, perhaps the 175kg dry weight was a prototype or estimate at EICMA? Anyway, hopefully someone independently verifies the wet weight soon, because 185kg wet sounds a lot more reasonable.
@barebonesmc
@barebonesmc 6 ай бұрын
curb weight is with oils and fluids but only minimal (usually one or 2 litres) fuel, so that would seem about right, a true wet weight is with the tank full, hence why i added the 17.5kg for fuel
@bradsmede

@@barebonesmc Some manufacturers say that curb weight includes fuel. Cfmoto manual says 450NK curb weight is 170kg, Jake weighed it at 174kg kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5SQpZ2Yjq-qnac Again, we'll have to wait and see what a true weight is but I can't imagine it's over 190.

I've watched a few of your vids on the Dakar that I enjoyed, but I have to say that this one sounds like someone sitting at the pub having a whine. Not trying to start a fight, hear me out here. You have some very valid points, but a few things stood out here that are questionable. Firstly have you riden the Scrambler 400x and the RE Himi 450? Cause based on your comments, it doesn't sound like it. You also mention the Rieju, now I owned an older EC300 GasGas, best dirtbike I ever owned and Rieju is now the old GasGas, but this Rieju Aventura is made in China not Spain, it's dry weight is 15kg heavier than the CFMoto 450MT and 3kg heavier than a T7 to boot and it cost £7500, the CFMoto looks like it will be around £5800. That's why no one is talking about it. I agree all of the 400/450's weigh too much, but at least they are being built, and some people like me could actually afford to buy a new bike for not stupid money.

This is the first and only channel I have watched that claims that the new 1300 GS is heavier then the old one. If that is true then they have done a number on many people including myself. thats the key mate, strip off all the bits you get as standard on the 1250 that DONT come on the 1300, and the 1250 is actually SLIGHTLY lighter. but, rumour has it that a new 1400 (with the same engine as the 1300 exactly) is on the horizon. the 1400, looks to be more like the 1250, but with the 1300 engine. i hope that makes sense, and i do think there will be a few people who bought the 1300 who will NOT be pleased when the 1400 arrives, and i do hate this new trend of calling a bike of the same capacity a number that makes it sound bigger when it isnt. @barebonesmc
@barebonesmc 6 ай бұрын
where are you? and compared to what? In Spain its comparable to the Macbor/Kove 500X and here £7500 vs the Honda at £6200, but you get luggage (£1000) engine bars, sump guard, fully adjustable suspension front and back and the list goes on, and that is why the weight cant just be cross compared directly either, just the obvious bits add over 15Kg of extras that arent fitted to the Honda, that you can always remove if you want it to be lighter. and there are offers that come up too.

Another good, and most importantly, brutally honest rundown on the current market. Thanks for being the only bike review type channel that tells the bad as well as the good. Top work thanks mate👍. BTW: Love the way you call the "ADV" rather than Adventure bikes as they'd like us to think. They may be a bit more capable off road than a road bike, a bit better at carrying cargo but, I'd take something like my DRZ 400 with an enduro tank over one of those elephants for real exploring any day!

I hope your channel is out of danger now too, the mongrels should wake the F up and realise you were promoting interest in their event FFS. Every company is too bloody keen to sue and complain about every damned thing. I'm going out for a ride in an hour or so and will be out for a fair while but if your other vid is up when I get back, it'll be top priority to watch😉. And yeah, I have had a few mostly minor health issues like a thrush infection that came straight back after treating it and had my mouth and throat so saw it was painful trying to eat anything at all and made me mute for over a week where I couldn't even whisper, just sort of quietly hiss something resembling words out. Not great but a lot better now and itching to get out for a bit finally. I hope your well too BTW.

Its been around a while now, and despite being built in China, seems to have a pretty solid reputation, The hunter Maverick which is a re badged Kove 500X is another one worth a look, in spain it is sold under the Macbor name, but it shows up in various places, the Voge 500DSX is another, so that 500cc sector is hotting up, especially now Benelli are releasing a derestricted model that produces around 60HP, cheers for the support

Thats another case of could do better for me. they could have differentiated it more by giving it longer travel suspension. as it is, it does just feel like a restyled CB500X to me, and I would say the Reiju Aventura and the Kove/Macbor/Hunter 500X are actually better versions of the Honda now, the Voge 500DSX could be very close now too, but it isnt as light as the ones above. it is becoming a bit of a battleground, I like that Benelli have pushed up the available power range above the A2 limit with their new 525X too

I’ve said this before and will say it again as you, my friend, bring a level of two wheel knowledge and insights that simply lack on other channels. Plus your comments always put a smile on my dial as I couldn’t agree with you more. Especially loved your comments for Ducati, BMW and Triumph. So very true. It’s just a shame that people can simply have a sheep mentality without actually doing their own research. Cheers, Marcus.

I hope you enjoy the Mason Klein interview when its up too. should be done by next week, ive just got masses of editing to do, and still having to work on other things to keep everything cash flow positive at the minute so time is a bit tight, have a great week my friend

@@barebonesmc I am still trying to get to sleep! I look forward to the future vids. It's a shame how portly these bikes have become. The Ducati would seem to have the right kind of power delivery but if heavy, not good. I worry about the low forward mounted cylinder
@barebonesmc
@barebonesmc 6 ай бұрын
@@upsidedowndog1256 a do think a vertical twin is simply the best format for an ADV bike. it gives more flexibility with design and keeps the block compact. Until the Kove arrives i think the Aprilia is still closest, but compared to the older CCM that is still portly. the MT450 promised so much that it makes me even more disappointed in the overall weight, there is just no sense in that decision to me.

I think they are almost so different the new one should have been called something else. As I said, I do think the new one is better in some ways. but i dont really think its a better Himalayan. and it doesnt have the sporting package that some others do. so im not sure who it will suit really. It will be a better commuter, and better on sunday trips to the coffee shop. and it will be more exciting for better riders. But it will never have the power of a KTM390 MT450 etc so the people who want that type of bike would surely look elsewhere? for someone who wants an simple, easy, lazy green laner that can be loaded up for a weekend or longer in the wild, i still think the old one wins. on a different subject, dont forget the Mason Klein interview, I will be live in the chat at 6pm UK time tonight kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGW8oHeBas18rpo
