what if the assets are soo chatoic that same named textures in idfferent folder would cause a naming conflict in the collected folder (collect due to avoid messin previous projects) is there a copy with original folder structure option? then would be copy the texture with their original folder hierarchy then rename the copied files with the naming convention bu then either or the script has to make sure the renamed textures are uniquely numbered to avoid the naming conflict when moved to a tidy __maps folder in the end. i think script has to detect same named texture renaming operations despite them being in different sub folders.

When renaming, textures with different paths are processed independently, even if they have the same filename

@@3d-kstudio and that becomes a problem if you try to move them to a flat folder like "_maps" i think script has to make sure all texture names are unique even if they are currently in different folders. My mentality with these model preparations is they should take as little time and thought as possible. Agree?

You can assign names to individual textures yourself. If duplicate texture names are detected during the "Collect" process, a dialog box will appear. This allows you to decide how to resolve the conflict: -Rename the asset automatically. -Skip the texture. -Or manually assign a unique name. This way, you maintain full control while ensuring the process remains quick and efficient. You can learn more about this feature here: 3d-kstudio.com/tutorials/manage-asset-files-project-manager/#DuplicateFileNames

That the tool can directly overwrite every filename makes it too dangerous for me. if somebody doesn't copy the files before 'everything' could be destroyed... by default the script should copy every texture in the folder and renaming it in one click.
