People always crow about how difficult trout fishing is…in my opinion, it pales in comparison to largemouth fishing with a fly rod. For trout, the worst you can expect on any given trip is a funny bow and arrow cast into some tight area. With bass, there are docks, brush piles, laydowns, weed beds…in the dead of summer, many shallow water bass post up in spots that are literally impossible to reach with a fly rod. My brother is more adventurous than I am in that department. He keeps a fly rod in his hand all year. Once bass season starts in earnest, I’ve retreated to my baitcasters, jigs, flukes, etc. Tweaking a dry dropper rig is about as sophisticated as I’ll ever go with my fly rods.

I have a friend I met years ago fishing he actually did bass tournaments one day he tried fly fishing for bass and he never picked up a spinning rod and reel or bait caster again he’s hooked on fly fishing for bass ties his own flies and what not and he’s bad I am in a good way

I just lost a really nice bass earlier using a frog. The flyline was kinda worn out and it stripped the whole leader off the flyline. A little bit of neglegance on my part really costed me
