I have recently came across a problem of being laid off and i asked my friend to weigh in on this problem and it turns out that the best way to get rid of problems is by stating where they stem from, ramping up your skills and technical efforts , clamp down on negative thoughts and finally put up with different circumstances. That was simply how to iron out any problem in life. Thank you 😊

As a result it turned out I have increased my vocabulary and improved my speech, so I can weigh in on debates easily.

I've found your channel randomly, youtube AI algorithms performed well for once :D Your videos for C1/C2 vocabulary, adjectives, etc. helped me a lot in the writing and speaking parts, where I actually scored 200+. Just wanted to say big thank you from a sh*thole in eastern Europe :D Keep up the good work. I hope your underrated channel grows to the much higher levels, that it deserves. Cheers :)

1 & 3: We should *ramp up* the time that we spend studying, perhaps we can gain the time to make it possible by *clamping down on* our usage of social media. 2 & 10: Most of the practical knowledge that I possess *stems from* studying mathematics, although from time to time I have to *put up with* topics that are not my cup of tea. 4 & 5: Once there is an economic crisis, lots of employees are *laid off* , but as soon as the troubles are *ironed out* , they might be offered to work at their previous job(s) again, since they had done nothing wrong. I'll need a short dialogue to make a clear usage of 6 & 7 in one sentence. :) Girl: 'Look at those jeans!' Another girl: 'Yeah, they're fabulous right? Let's order them!' 6 & 7: 'Sorry for *weighing in* here, but I think you should *get rid of* some of your old clothes before purchasing new ones.' I'll only substitute 8 to Ben's example for 9 here 8 & 9: 'William *comes across* as being very serious, but it *turns out* he's quite funny.' Sorry if I made any mistakes here, of course, pardon the commas after spaces as it was necessary in order to make the phrasal verbs appear *bold* 😅If that's the case, please let me know!

thanks a lot for this lesson, it has been so useful to learn about phrasal verbs for an spanish speaker. When it comes to learning English, I am high-spirited, exhilarated mood at all times and ramped up all of my efforts into it. My passion towards my goals and inspirations stems from my unwavering determination. Our company is phased in the new rules and regulations and clamped down on the smoking in public area except in the smoking area. Thanks to the economic recession and COVID 19 outbreak around the globe , many people are highly likely affected to be laid-off. If you want to be more productive and harmony in the work, you is to be ironed out the different perspectives and go with the flow. Everyone needs to weigh in on their opinions to enhance the productive outcome during our discussion. Our store room was piling up a plethora of unwanted/discarded items that we decluttered and got rid of it right off the bat. I have the gut feelings of something is not right on the person's approach on the social media It turned out to be later that he was known for fraud case. I came across the butler's outgoing personality and a sense of humor during my dinner at the restaurant nearby my house. I put up with my boss' short-tempered and bit the bullet time to time after his return from the meetings.

1. I can finally ramp up my english conversations with Ben's videos. 2. Great attorneys stem from famous and well-known universities. 3. Police clamped down on illegal trading between countries. 4. My friend has been laid off because of the decreasing sales at our company. 5. Me and my mother haven't been on good bonds lately and I hope we can finally iron out our disagreement on things. 6. Our classmate John is quite timid and shy so he can barely weigh in during the school days. 7. My assistant accidentally got rid of my important contract with one of my customer. 8. I always thought Mary was egoistic before knowing her but it turned out she's very friendly and helpful. 9. Since the Persian new year is on the way, people try to get rid of their old stuff during the house-cleaning. I guess there is no need to put up with all those useless stuff anymore. Besides getting rid of old things, such as furniture or clothes, it's the perfect time to iron out differences and problems and have a fresh start of the new year. Problems that only stem from some minor misunderstandings and can be resolved through communication and expressing each side's needs. 🎉

If I want to pass the test I'll really have to ramp up my efforts. I don't know where my test anxiety stems from, but I want to get rid of it. It's time to iron out some of the flaws in my English so people around me no longer have to put up with them. A significant portion of my English vocabulary stems from Stephen King's novels. When I was younger I thought he wrote trashy horror stuff, but it turns out he used to work as an English teacher before her became a successful author. One of the advantages of being a popular author is that you're not at risk of being laid off. Edit: Thanks for the video. I didn't know that "to come across" is the same in English as it is in informal German. "Das kam jetzt falsch rüber" translates to "that didn't come across as intended". Learn something new every day :D

Could you make a video on phrasal verbs that seem to mean the exact same thing despite adding different prepositions? I've been trying to find the difference between cool, cool down and cool off. I have skimmed through different English dictionaries, they all provide the exact same definition for the three of them: to become or cause to become less hot. It doesn't matter how hard I try, no dictionary, no definition explains why different prepositions after cool or why even adding off or down at all if they all mean the sane as 'cool' alone. This is common problem with phrasal verbs, no disambiguation to tell them apart which makes learning English frustrating.

The long-lasting annoying pain on my right wrist undoubtedly stemmed from excessive use of smartphone. I decided to clamp down on such habit in order to get rid of the suffering. It turned out it didn’t work and I still had to put up with the discomfort. A visit to the doctor’s office was a better way to iron out the problem.

Extremely useful! Cheers, Ben! You can't answer one question, can you? Is there any difference between "due to" and "because of"? This question came to my mind while I was listening to your example about the pandemic. Thank you! :)

Recently, many people have jumped in the fitness bandwagon. However, most of us still need to ramp up our veggies intake so as to live a healthy lifestyle. To my mind, I hasten to add, we shouldn't just clamp down on sugary and fatty food. As a matter of fact, cutting down on them is the best solution, so that not only can we indulge ourselves sometimes, but also have a healthy and happy life.

I had to live in Scotland for a year and prepare for the Cambridge Proficiency Exam in order to get a good command of phrasal verbs in every day usage. There are so many of them. I personally need to find ways of putting them into practise. Otherwise, they only turn into passive vocabulary.

The explanation is very clear, although it's not C1/C2 level. My students have to learn half of these phrasal verbs on the intermediate level. And it's based on Oxford school books.
@Ericadbury
@Ericadbury Жыл бұрын
These are definitely c1/c2 level vocabulary. It's your students that are learning more advanced vocabulary in the intermediate level. Many people think that only unknown and unused words are advanced /proficiency level, which are unknown for many native speakers too.
