I've actually used "stemming from" before in a text because I've seen it written somewhere and I understood its application. But I've never thought of it as a phrasal verb. Very interesting! Perhaps because when you use the verb "to stem" without the addition of "from", you're specifically referring to the rising of the stalk of a plant from the ground.

Hii I just wanted to say that I watched ur videos to learn how to write proposals and essays for my CAE exam. I fo take CAE classes but they didnt teach writing. I only started take studying seriously about 2 weeks before my exam. I took the exam on 22nd if October, just yesterday. I took ur advise on doing reading first in use of English and reading and it really helped a lot. I thought I wouldn't have time for both of the writings but I was able to do do both!! Thank you so muchh

Very useful lesson and if we use these according to the context, our speech, and the writing will be advanced. But, I've noticed one thing, a slight mistake has been made while writing the example with "rule out", for example, Boris Johnson hasn't rule himself out of the leadership election. Should be: Boris Johnson hasn't ruled himself out of the leadership election.

So rather than saying: they were able to ‘put out’ the fire. To be more formal is it better to use: ‘they extinguished’ the fire? Personally, phrasal verb usage is used in everyday speech and whatever needs to be written.

- There are so many options ... it's useful to narrow them down (to limit ourselves to) the most realistic. - E-scooters are becoming very popular, but we have to factor in (to consider) the weather - Allude to (hint at, refer to) : I often tell people if it's possible to sandwich the object between the verbe and the preposition, then it's a phrasal verbe. narrow down/factor in something = narrow/factor something down/in, but we can only say allude to xxxx, not allude xxxx to. - Scale back = cut back = scale down= cut down 🤓
