I recently got the rules printed. I am borrowing a lot from the gameplay. But built my own board, and I’m using a modular dungeon set. Which I’m kind of invested the line actually. I might at some point get those modular tiles that you can get from eBay. To properly re-create the game. I am really excited to kinda play the game properly.

Thanks Glen. It’s Ben hard to get to the games table due to school holidays and my work here, and it’s hot as hell upstairs atm lol. I will try and get the first dungeon filmed and out before I go to Australia later this month though

Im getting in to this and colleting all the extra skaven - very slowly! Your paint jobs are excellent. This game ought to have colour and some brightness to it. Love your skaven especially! The solo play is really quite goof fun from the 2 times ive had a go. The odd reroll may be needed to make it work but Its such nice system

Leader's don't add +1 to a surprise roll. It's just that the Leader makes the roll. Also, open doors block line of sight unless you or your target are adjacent to said door. Therefore in order to gain +1 to your surprise roll from your Elf, the Elf needs to be adjacent to the door.

@@FarawayPictures great question and they are part of the original game of AHQ. I painted them as they come in a dark brown plastic. Hope that helps and thanks for watching and commenting.

Combat mechanics look pretty fun. Must not have a morale mechanic because those skaven were due a check after that fireball 😅. Also looks like a good game for folks to DIY; floor boards could be made easily, skaven are easy to find, most challenging part might be doors and furniture

Reading through the rules. Question - Skaven Assassin - I’m trying to decipher his gameplay mechanics . is it simply just his initial placement? Do you get to place him in the corridor outside the room ?? Some of the rules are not really explained very well. summer a bit vague,

Remember, there is a chart for the original furniture to be placed in the rooms. Makes it a lot more fun and diverse, plus it looks really cool (:

@@LaMOi1 yeah I don’t see why not. You could even use a dice app on your smart phone. I’d just order some cheap D12s from EBay. That’s what did.

2d6 gives you a very different spread of outcomes than a d12. E.g. A 7 comes up in a d12 1/12th of the time, but comes up on 2d6 1/6th of the time.

It's only +1 on the surprise roll - "if the elf is looking into the room or passage where the monsters have been found, the leader adds +1 to the dice when he rolls for surprise"

Great game - always looking for new AHQ videos :) One recommendation is to buy some blank D12 and label them up somehow (stickers or marker pen) to match the tables. Really helpful for generating corridors much faster, by simply rolling three dice.

Really looking forward to more of this! The old school dungeon atmosphere is seeping from the walls in this game! Beautiful paint job! The new dungeon generation table in the "Terror in the Dark" expansion makes it a little less random to find quest rooms if you would like that.? Oh and one little thing.. remember that you cant move diagonally in AHQ like you can in Warhammer Quest 95. 🤟😊

I just did a huge trade for my complete copy of Blackstone Fortress with all expansion card packs that came out over time for regular heroquest with expansions and a box of advanced heroquest with the expansion and a lot of the Miniatures that go with the game so I really need find some good video so I can learn how to play

Nice choice of the Skaven models. I opted for the same, as I think the forward facing posture and the overall design fits better to the other AHQ and Citadel Skaven miniatures of that time. Additionally, the weapons are not so much in the way as with the original ones.

you do the moving wrong. you can walk up to 12sqares but only when you have trained enough speed. the dwarf is the slowest and you move him around like its a fairy :D warrior moves 6 the elves 9 the wizard 8 and ddwar gos down in speed drasticly when eqipped better gear. get borins armor from heroquest mission to negate the speed for him

All characters can walk 12 spaces in exploration turns. Page 10 of the original AHQ rule book.

The dwarfs speed is reduced from 6 to 5 by his leather armour, so in this video it’s only wrong by 1 square around 14:50

Not sure why I can’t see the reply which I was notified for, but just to clarify: English version, Exploration Turns, page 10, paragraph 3. (Column 1) “Hero Player Phase The Heroes move. You may move your Hero (and Henchmen, if you have any) up to 12 squares, or have him search for secret doors or have him search for hidden treasure” Also, column 2 (page 10, paragraph 8, bullet point 1) - Hero Player Phase “the following actions are available to a Hero during the Hero Player Phase 1. A Hero or Henchman May move up to 12 squares. He may move vertically or horizontally but not diagonally.” Combat, page 26 , paragraph 7 “Movement in Combat Phases … A monster or Hero can be moved forwards, backwards, left or right a number of squares equal to its Speed” There’s nothing in the rules about training-up to be able to do this. Perhaps you are thinking of another version of HQ or Warhammer Quest? (I’ve never played the latter)

i saw it and my bad^^ what i did read was for the henchmen (if you have any) i play tested it and it runs more fluid this way, the right way^^ i played it wrong and this causes more wandering monsters or traps because this dwar is so slow .

How do you handle fumbles? when you roll for example 4 damage dice at once and one result is 1 and the other maybe 6 3 12.
