I remember my very first Rome 2 Siege, i was playing Egyptians and the enemy besieged my main town. Seeing i had mostly spearmen and slingers and the enemy had mostly swordsmen and cavalry. I sallied out and formed a spear wall about 50 meters from the walls so the enemy would still be in the kill zone of my ranged units. It was very one sided.

The cavalry he was using was mercenary Persian scouts, very fast but very flimsy against other melee cav His plan was to snipe the general with them and use the increased capture speed to capture the city center, but as soon as another unit of enemy cav showed up it was curtains for them
