This is - by far - the most in dept and well put together wheel tutorial for FM8 to this date. Also, by all what I've read and tested so far, it's the only one that actually gets all the settings CORRECTLY. It's honestly mind blowing to me, how many self proclaimed "sim racing content creators" out there put out similar guides in the last couple of days, that are just completely off and not correct about what setting does what. @@TimmyTheSnail i think you wont be disappointed - do yourself a favour though, and actually WATCH the entire thing and try to understand the concepts explained here. Don't just simply copy and paste his base settings. While they are a very good starting point, you can (and should!) still further adjust to your liking. The tools are very well explained here. For example, i decided to go with much higher mechanical trail than him, despite being on a belt wheel, just because i liked the heavier feeling result more.

It seems the same as Forza 7, in which case I'd recommend checking out Blue028's video on FM7 FFB where he gets real in detail on what each setting actually does. Unless they changed it for FM8, which is possible, the FFB scale does not scale all effects, only certain ones.

Just used this guide to set up a G923. It feels really good. Cars communicate well through the wheel and you get a really good feeling of the limits of grip. I'll add this is my first wheel and pedal set up.

Oh man, tanks you for this. The FFB is so dialed in for me now. I've been sim racing for 3 years now, played em all from more sim-cade games like GT7 to full sims like iRacing and everything in between. This may sound crazy but I feel this is the best FFB I've experienced. Now before the pitchforks come im not claiming that Motosport has better FFB and physics than iRacing, but thanks to this guide my ol' TS-XW has never felt so perfectly connected with a virtual car. Hopefully I can use some if this new knowledge to get my settings just as dialed in with my other games. Edit: Just read some of the other comments and its seems like there are quite a few people with the TS-XW and they feel the same way, kinda interesting.

I noticed with my thrustmaster TX there was a horrible constant vibration when going perfectly straight when wheel damping was set to 100, dropped that down to 40 to cope but left the rest of the settings standard, going to get everything dialed in thanks to this video!!

Ive tried everything to tune this in for my wheelbase, the game as far as I can tell never turn off steering assists completely, I can literally sit in the cockpit, drive the car without any manual steering input and the wheel will simply turn on its own when I get to a corner, its fucked

On PC with T-TG II still not playable good settings that work even in another not Forza title but Motorsport is basically unplayable sadly on wheel. The menu control is not even possible like when you rewind and need to press A you either need to press A and a xbox controller that lays near by or Enter on the Keyboard. This game disappoints me in every aspect graphic settings dont getting saved (same for Controller and Steering wheel settings). Run barely 60fps with a well upgraded pc. Camera is 16:9 and not 21:9 in my case. Livery editor is basically a joke when you compare it to Forza Horizon 5 and so on. Still huge thanks for this in depth guide i learned many things how to set up the wheel even for other games now.

So, I've got this game for free through gamepass and my buddy and I both just got Moza R5 wheels. We've tried out assetto, auto mobilista, etc. but find that the multiplayer aspect (having to choose a specific server to join) and the complexity and annoyance of having to constantly back out to change settings, adjust ffb, etc. is really frustrating. Ease of use is definitely on the low end, though the FFB is incredibly detailed and realistic. We've been spending most our time in Forza Horizon 5, simply for the ease of playing together, variety of surfaces/cars/race types, ease of adjusting settings, and so on. However, the FFB leaves a lot to be desired in comparison to Assetto. Obviously this is understandable because its more of an arcade, but I have felt for many years that Horizon needs to update its FFB engine. Anyway, I have thought about playing Forza Motorsport, because I am under the assumption that the FFB is at least slightly more realistic and ease of use in terms of playing together, changing settings, etc. is still there and far better than Assetto, but I have heard mixed reviews about the game itself. Is Forza Motorsport a bad experience, or are people just complaining because it wasnt necessarily all they were hoping for? Was it maybe bad at launch and since gotten better? I'm curious what you think is a good balance when it comes to ease of use for Novice sim racers and also detailed FFB. Thanks!

Thank you big time for your hard work, the effort you put into this video speaks for itself. I'm in my 60's and 5 years ago or so I purchased Fanatec V2 servo, V3 pedals, shifter and obutto rig, but never really took a deep dive into the settings. Haven't really used the rig in several years but with FM release I thought I give it another go. Right off the bat the handling was bad I tried a few things, probably made it worse, anyway your instructions and explanations have now allowed me to drive and race and it feels really good. One question is "how does steering sensitivity (on wheel ) affect the overall turning radius of the car? I've had it set at 750 but would like to know if it can be improved. Thank you for this I started using these on Sunday and you have the best breakdown of the settings I have found yet also your baselines provided me with the perfect starting point on my g920. Made a few tweaks for personal preference but since using these I have logged maybe 20 to 30 hour, can actually use my sim rig instead of it collecting dust and was able to improve my lap times consistently by anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds depending on the track.

I tried this but whenever I counter-steer the car seems to steer too much in the other direction and I seem to fight a snaking counter-steer. It just gets worse until I get a tank slapped on and spin out.

If I let go of the wheel I get crazy amounts of oscillation. The only setting that seems to stop this is “steering self alignment” but if I turn that down, I lose all weight to the wheel and feel for the car. Turned it down and turned up the “wheel damping scale” to try and bring the heavy feel back, but it made little difference with the first setting turned down so idk what to do. Any ideas?

Some cars had it for me and some didn’t but as you said slightly reducing self alignment and I found pneumatic trail too high might also cause. And adding slightly more damper helps stop oscillations. So doing a combination of those will prevent any one setting from being changed too much

It's on the FFB side. The tracks have just been laser scanned. Cranking up the Road Feel setting makes it a lot better.

Check out Blue028's video on FM7 FFB. Seems the same, but that issue is going to come down to dynamic damping, or mechanical/pneumatic. I forget which of the 2 trail scales will fix that. The best bet is to leave FFB scale at 100 and turn off everything else to 0 besides mechanical and pneumatic. According to Blue, if you raise one, you should lower the other. If the wheel is too light in normal driving, up the damping until it feels a decent level, but that will make the wheel stiff during drifting, so you also turn on dynamic damping so when you start to slide it reduces the damping by straight percentage. Also check in the telemetry menu for a FFB graph if there is one.

​@@akaspoonn the difference between forza and ac ffb is that forza is using all sorts of "artificial" elements to give you the different sensatsions of the car...in a way its cool but but true ffb in AC just feels better imo. But here are my AC settings: Wheelbase: SEN 900, FFB 100, DRI 2, FOR 100, DPR 100, SPR 100, BRF what ever you like the best. AC Settings: Gain 65% (also have to adjust per car setting but usually 75%) works best for me. Filter 0, Minimum force 0, all the effects 0, enhanced understeer effect 0 and soft lock is activated. Center boost range is 10% and experimental settings are on with gyroscopic effect. In this setting Damper gain is 100% Bare in mind, order of these settings are as displayed in Content Manager. I feel like even if you dont like these settings right away, it gives u a good baseline to work from.

Been messing with this on the G920 and its absolutely undrivable. I cannot get any feeling at all when the back tires lose traction. And then by the time my eyes catch it and I go to compensate. The simulation snap countersteer kicks in and I go spinning. This is the same issue that FM7 always had. It feels almost identical honestly. I play PC2 and ACC on wheel all day no problem. I can feel when I get oversteer and can correct accordingly. Its like driving drunk on here and I cant figure it out. Clearly people have cracked it but nothing in this video has help this.

I have cracked the physics in FM7 and applied it to FM8 and now they drive more like a proper sim. The 4 key parameters are Self centering alignment (torque alignment in FM7) 180 Mechanical Trail : 200 Pneumatic Trail: 90 Steering linearity: 0 Steering Sensitivity (added in FM8): 0 Adjust steering angle of wheelbase 450 LMP 810 Others

Your belt settings work well for my T300RS, but it still doesn't feel as detailed or connected as GT7's FFB. I noticed that the virtual wheel in cockpit view of a GT3 car will shake during a high speed straight, but my wheel is completely still with no detail corresponding with what's on screen. I got a cheap Tm TMX on market place and have been messing with settings for like 6 hours. This has helped me develop a solid baseline to start and tweak moving forward. Awesome video and breakdown, thanks man!

Tbh I'm sick of this shit. I've never had to do this in any granturismo game . Not even asetto corsa required this much bs to play. And the fact thT I can't play at any rotation higher than 540 and God forbid you try to drift . Turn 10 needs to do better with the out the box wheel settings .

So anyone else use cloud play for this game? Cause it just wont read the wheel. Its keeping me to controller. Some shit says i need to plug my shit into a PC (i dont own one) to trouble shoot problems. I fuckim hate the state of gaming in 2023 i have to either wait for some dumb shit to be patched or pay 500 bucks to upgrade to a next gen system

I have been playing Horizon 5 for about a year and Motorsports since it came out struggled with the settings tremendously however after just following a little quick setup today it's much better

This is the 2nd settings fix video I have tried. None of the settings fixed my issue. The problem I'm having is no matter what car I use if I use the brakes the car spins out of control. Forget trail braking! I bought better brakes and tried adjust the brake pressure etc. Nothing works. I need a video on how to fix the brake issue.

If anyone has smooth feedback settings for thrustmaster t300/TX that get progressively heavy load wise depending on angle/speed let me know... there is too many options that contradict others in this game...

Im bout ready to throw out my g920 because I cannot for the life of me get this to work, I've been trying for dozens of hours and not a single lap can I go through without losing control, yet if I rewind and do the same exact turn with the same exact inputs on a controller, suddenly my car isn't losing control anymore

Unfortunatly, even with your top guide, with my Thrustmaster T-GT2 the game is always "unplayable".. Main isuue is the "steering self alignment"..I have to keep it to zero otherwise my wheel steers by itself 😮..and doing this my ffb is really "empty"..any suggestion for this specific servo base?
