Side note about tubs - whenever you are using a plastic tub, be aware of your lids! Make sure your snakes aren’t going to be able to squeeze out of the lids! Some tubs are better than others and some tubs work better for certain species than others!

This is so cool! I should look at doing something like this for my crocodile skink, because she loves her bins. It came out fantastic. 😍

Love Specialty Enclosure Designs! We do this for all our grow outs, before they go into their adult enclosures, introducing enrichment a little at a time and adding as they get more comfortable, they can be tailored to each species. It's a good middle step between neonate and adult set-ups, can still accommodate UVB and heating, is still cost effective, so you can provide all the extras, and still provides a front opening door that alleviates a lot of the overhead fears. GJ! One recommendation, use tubs with lots of latches!

I'm definitely trying this!!

That’s pretty cool!! If your dremel has a sanding bit I would use that to score the surface so the silicone and foam have stronger adhesion to the tub. Could potentially install those cool ledges they sell for some climbing opportunities if the bond is strong enough.

I love this! I've thought about buying the tub frames before, I've just not had any reason to yet. I might try one when I finally get a snake! I absolutely love the way they look and honestly like them better than glass tanks because of the weight difference.

weight difference… cost difference… ability to hold humidity… so many pros😁

what kind of heat pads are you using for the tubs? The type of Sterilite tub (size), and which conversion kit you get the Cambro or Choice? Sorry for all the questions but you got me wanting to do this build :) I know some you cant use as it'll melt the plastic, thinking of doing a convert kit like you did for my file snakes.

With all of the ecological issues causing problems for endangered and non endangered species I’m glad that there are alternatives for housing that some of the knowledgeable rehabs and zoos can use to stretch some money and help more animals! It’s about time lol, p.s this turned out awesome!!!!

If you sand the tub walls the silicone should hold. Silicone does not stick well to smooth surfaces.

Can we have an update sometime?? Or is there an update video? I was searching all over KZbin for exactly this video because I want to make a nice bioactive setup for my ball python! I have been planning on making tote setups for him for a while but now I know it can be bioactive too!

U can use silicon u have to sand the tub where you are putting it
@tyliful3 жыл бұрын
how much does the whole completed tub cost? it might be almost the same just to get an enclosure of the same size.
@6strings7353 жыл бұрын
Compared to glass cages maybe. But glass cages are heavy, they can be harder to heat (they lose heat easily). And those darn corners. Tubs hold humidity better w/o any extra tricks or effort. For example, if I was raising a baby boa constrictor, I would go tub over glass any day. Milksnake? Tub over glass any day. Ball python? Tub over glass. PVC cages are not cheap anymore. Tubs definitely have a place.

Not Relevant what is the best place to get a green iguana I have done research a lot but there is a lot of mixed answers to the best place to get one as a baby
@zareptiles3 жыл бұрын
always a responsible ethical breeder or one being rehomed. there are many iguanas constantly being rehomed. The one concern with this is you dont really know the quality of care they received before you. Sometimes starting with a baby is best so it can grow with you. This can help with bonding
@TimidLimit3 жыл бұрын
But I don't know any green iguana breeders near me yes true that is why I want a baby so she can get used to me

@zareptiles3 жыл бұрын
yup! the other two I have I originally had stacked. I would just recommend not having deep substrate because it makes them heavier
