- So in Delhi, the Fortum was super fast which takes 50 mins for 0-80%. - MG Mohali was fast, not super fast - it gave us 15% every one 1 hr. - Shimla hotel / friend home was using an emergency charger that MG gives to the owner and this gave us 8% every one hour. I would loose my mind constantly thinking about the range. This video clearly proves we aren’t highway ready for an EV. Bottom line is if you want to drive in the city then buy an EV otherwise ICE is still the way to go as of 2021
@Amuzic_Earth3 жыл бұрын
You won't brother after driving an electric for few days. The range anxiety feels real only before using an electric vehicle...studies after studies have shown the anxiety goes away within first month of using an EV..as the indicators are pretty accurate and you get the feel of how much you can go with a certain battery capacity. And I can tell from my own experience too..and I run a meagre electric two wheeler with a 80 KM range. I rode it to its extreme..Mountains, rains, rivers, jungles..and still no issues. The advantage is anytime you feel you are running low on battery, you can drive/ride very slow and the range will increase orders of magnitude. It's called hypermiling( I had to do it only once). Anyway, you are right, EVs are still not for most people as of 2021 as India is vastly lacking charging infra..

@@Amuzic_Earth good suggestion bro, I’m also using an electric 2 wheeler Okinawa ridge plus with 50-60 km real world range, which I’ve used for more than 2 years now and ran it for around 10000 kms now, the range has remained constant throughout if the load is constant. I’ve used it in Bangalore through various elevations across the city, it has been a good experience and I’ve done what you called hypermiling with my scooter as well 😊, which one you are using and can you give any more details on your usage and experience.
@Amuzic_Earth3 жыл бұрын
@@sarojrajdas4046 I am using the same scooter as yours..and I easily get 85 kms range with still one bar left. I get 70 km range with pillion. I weigh about 60kg, so that helps a bit I guess. I was always used to ride economically even before I started using electric and get higher mileage in whatever vehicle I ride/drive than most people..and I drive/ride fast. I just hate applying brakes, so I will release throttle beforehand or manuevre my way out of it. And I don't accelerate hard I general, I like gradual acceleration. This is with all vehicles. With electric what I additionally do is, to release the throttle time to time ( every 10-20 seconds) for 1-2 seconds. Because batteries drain faster on constant draw of power. But don't forget to accelerate gradually, if you release throttle and then put it back fast then that will negate the effect. The other thing I do is decrease speed as the battery drops. So, 50kmph at 5 bars, 40kmph at 3-4 bars, 30 kmph at 2 bars..this strategy gives me 85+ km range...the advantage is most of the time you don't have to go beyond 5 bars, so most of the time I ride at 45-50+ kmph speed.

2021 : EV is a up and coming segment! Please note "it's coming" it's not here yet. Loved how unbiased the review was. There are two ways to interprete this review - 1. If you find yourself in an EV in a situation like this, dont panic, solution is somewhere around you. Just try to make a few calls to people you know or find a hotel or cafeteria and ask for help. 2. For current infra adoption percentage, it's not the best idea to have only one EV as your primary vehicle. Keep a conventional vehicle too if you want to have an EV untill the situation is better. It's now totally the consumers own opinion on whom you identify yourself to be. 1 or 2. Awesome review! 👌🏼👌🏼

Thank you for sharing the informative video. Couple of Qs. 1) When you were travelling up hill if you had put the car in eco mode and level 3 in KERS would the drain have been less and what would have been the impact on pick-up. 2) Also, the overnight charge at the friends place in Solan did not provide a good charge. Is this because it was a remote place or is this the general charging speed anywhere. 3) heartening to note that straight forward highway drives yielded a result closer to 300, but were you able to use the AC throughout. Also was there a lag in power with the AC on. Thanks in advance.

the only gap true today for all the electric cars is the long hours of recharging. This car is perfect for city driving, a range of 200km should be enough for day to day, and we can charge overnight on normal charging. But when i plan to go out with family on long 400-700km trip i have to chose wher i can go and where not. So long way to go to build this infra and there needs to be lot of push and aggressive subsidies on cars to encourage ppl to buy - atleast as second car. Definitely this is greener by every standard, and we have a decade to pass when it will be normal to use electric cars.

You were using cruise control and you were doing the regen at the same time. In MG ZS EV, cruise control uses the friction brakes to slow the car down, not the region and as you were coasting in the hills, the cruise control was applying brakes inorder to slow you down. (MG uses a lot of fossil car parts, therefore the cruise control is programmed as a fossil car) Therefore, most of the energy was converted as heat from brakes, and there was minimal regeneration. Disengage the cruise control and then let the car coast on L3 regen, you will regen a lot and charge the vehicle much more.

The Best MILEAGE Cars in Diesel is based on the ratio between WEIGHT: POWER: TORQUE., Example, a car with 100bhp and 25kgm torque and with a weight of 1100kgs, Definitely 20kmpl in any sort of Driving. Same way, in ELECTRIC CARS, it comes as WEIGHT: BATTERY "kWh": TORQUE, really play a role. In Nexon the weight is 1400kgs and 30kWh so definitely a 200kms range comes out, in Hyundai Kona 1532kg and 39kWh, so 270+kms definitely, in MG ZS, 1512kgs with 44kWh , so definitely 300kms easily will come up. Now the TATA TIGOR EV, Coming soon, is 1200kgs with 26kWh definitely 250kms easily will reach. Do the Ratio Analysis, it comes out good number. I Promise...

Had to do my share of homework before leaving. Full charged at Delhi via Fortum app. Mohali I knew there was a station at MG showroom. In Himachal, friends place and known hotel came to rescue. On way back, before Delhi, used Tata power app. So as an owner, you will need to do the home work.. That said the newly launched 2021 model has an even longer range now

Nice review . . . . . The car needs a less power consuming LED Projector headlamp, it's an area of improvement . . . . . Presence of Tata Fast Charger was good but the irony is it runs on a generator powered by fossil fuel 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . . . . . It makes me wonder a lot of things 🙄 . . . . No doubt Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles are 1000 times more practical . . . . . Government should acknowledge the perfection of FCEVs and should start working on Economic Hydrogen for the public instead of Electric Charging Infrastructure . . . . . .

India surely has a long way to go no doubt. Fingers crossed. Just like CNG acceptance took time, this one too will become better over the years

Gr8 work explaining the real life senario While doing an inter city trip to chadhigarh Also the mg shoroom should atleast have ccs charging if they wanna sell ev in the first place Disappointed that a big city like Chandigarh doesn't even have one fast charging ccs or chademo charger Being called a clean n green city Good to see Tata Power installing ccs charger in ganuar to encourage ev drivers on the highway. Gr8 review took lot off time n effort to make this one

If you go to shimla from delhi in petrol/diesel car you reach there in 7-7.5 hrs but here it is taking almost 24-28 hrs including a night stay and manage for car charging also... Not at all practical.
