The simon and marcy arc/ relationship is one the most beautiful fictional storylines I’ve ever seen. The world of Ooo is still broken though - what’s changed in the earlier seasons compared to now? Did you prefer the crazy one-trick characters like the clowns or the thin hunchbacked witch? I personally, and a lot of people loved the way the show matured, so I like all the seasons. Just trying to get insight from another perspective If lamer means more mature, with serious undertones and less childlike plots then yea I guess it got lamer

Betty suddenly being in Ooo, the finale where the Ice King is once again Simon, Finn suddenly being one human being amongst many, the Litch turning into a giant baby. These are all rewrites of Penn's original premise to make the show more child friendly. Penn left mid-season five. That's around when the show became lame.

No more dark, sinister storylines about the Lich or his rampage.
