It's interesting how both Martin and Minerva went in different directions as a result of the incident of Martin having to leave the island with Finn. Martin became a neglectful father due to having felt like he betrayed Finn by not staying true to his promise of coming back for Finn while Minerva became a helicopter parent who went into depression after being under the impression that Martin just dipped with their child and was afraid to let him go once he finally came back after several years.
