Good review. Couple notes on the newer one, which I own. I have it in black, and it scratches really easily. My front handle spring return failed and now it doesn’t return to flat. And lastly, I was really surprised how noisy the compressor is when driving over rough roads. Same sound as when you move around any household fridge. No issue for you truck guys, but quite noticeable inside an SUV. I did put a piece of sticky backed foam on the top of mine to allow packing on top of it without things sliding off 🤙🏼

Damn that sucks. I know the handles are removable. Have you tried to diagnose what went wrong. I ran the fridge in the house for a week using it daily to test everything out and mine doesn’t seem to make much noise. It’s actually quieter than my EcoFlow Glacier. I can definitely see the aluminum scratching very easy but should last a long time. Thanks for watching the review and hopefully you don’t have any other issues with yours.

Just got the 55 a couple of months ago and love it! Just got off of a two week trip through Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming. Loved being able to have the freezer available and having the app really makes it convenient to manage. Great review!

Wonderful, honest review! Thank you. We've been running the IceCo 3-1 Jp42 (Fridge/Freezer/Ice Cooler for over 3 years. We absolutely love it. I totally agree about the lid on the silver one. I like the versatility of the black one. Our buddy from Toyota Overlanders just sold his Dometic to buy the black one. I do like the soft close and more insulation. Have you considered running a test to see how much power each uses in fridge mode? It's great to see more and more folks making the switch. Really, the best value for the money. I thought about doing the power consumption test but it is completely dependent on the variables of ambient temp versus product temp and I don’t thing much comes out of it for real world use. I feel like most Overlanders have massive power systems that could run any fridge since the price of the solar generators are so reasonable now. After having the VL37 and the ALP55. I agree, it’s much better. The ALP55 also seems to be way more efficient on hot days probably due to the thicker insulation. The way the lid was designed might have been a factor with the efficiency. The VL lid design is awesome but I would take the ALP55 design for a more efficient fridge. The VL model just runs all the time compared to the ALP55.

Hands down I would like to see 5 year warranty on the whole fridge and not just the compressor. If this is really made to last, ICECO should not worry about warranting the whole fridge.

No I would say go for it. We actually keep the ICECO running in the kitchen for extra drinks this summer because our fridge is on the small side and it’s so convenient.

For me, the black one is a brainer to keep. Just the lid alone makes my decision because like you said peoples plug situation is different and the black one allows for that plus, not everyone had the lid space to lift a lid therefore removable is the way to go ! Thx for the review. However you didn’t show how it works in an overland situation. Plug in, does it drain car battery when car isn’t running etc.

That is a great idea. They actually just released a fridge cover that I’m thinking of getting. Would be a shame to cover the beautiful polished finish but would be nice to not destroy it also. What do you think?

I usually do and thought I did for that review. ICECO was having a sale, I think. I don’t always put the price in the review only because I get comments that the price isn’t the same when they go to buy. Sales come and go and don’t want to be one to get someone’s hopes up on a price and have it be more expensive. I’ll do my best to make sure I put the prices in the reviews though.
