The village I went to today was called "Bocana de Paiwas", which is right in the center of Nicaragua, about an 1-2 from the closest city of Rio Blanco, a city in the northern Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. This village is far off the tourist trail and I was happy to hear that I was the first tourist to ever visit.
The reason why I wanted to explore the rural villages of Nicaragua was to see real Nicaraguan culture. Bocana surprised me because of the unique "cowboy culture" that I could feel here - from the hats, riding the horses, and even the general vibe.
So after a bumpy ride on a chicken bus, we finally arrived.
This was the real Nicaragua I wanted to see. Not some fancy vlog.
Join me as I venture out into rural Nicaragua....

Paul, I lived primarily on the EAST COAST of Nicaragua for over a year.I've searched for videos that show the real Nicaragua. La costa atlantica . I travelled through the country , and found the hospitality and humility and the generosity of the "poor" to be some of the richest experiences I've ever had. I admire you for travelling into the campo. I've looked for videos like yours , and this is finally what I've missed . Thank you. I see you are going to the east coast. It has changed TREMENDOUSLY since I lived there., Ive been told. You interact nicely with the folks , I'd like to hear my "friends ; " as " living with less " than POOR " ,. and their villages as "simple". To me, it grants them the dignity they deserve. It would teach a great lesson for many living in the U.S. I lived there for a bit more than a year . The revolution was really complex , and "sort of" Over. At that time the coast was considered another world , the costanos in the north , felt that way ,too. The history of this small country is quite fascinating , as the leader of the revolutionary is now a dictator. Yet the real Nicas live on in spite of the difficult history they've endured . Paul.. live and learn and teach those at home whose lives and values are limited and different . You have the sense of curiosity about other cultures . Differences are to explored and valued . Wishing you continued joy , as you learn the lessons of being a kind traveler , and when situations may get a little difficult , remember the wealth of what you are receiving as a citizen of the world. BLESSINGS ON YOU .
