I was in a 6 years relationship which produced one child. I got saved and and we decided to get marry....my Pastor told me to tell my partner that he wanted to counsel us both....oh, BTW he wasn't a Christian......so of course I told my partner and his response was " wi nuh need nuh counselling man, look how long we deh..wi always get pass things" .....me on the other hand said " a tru mon" .......so guess what? No counselling...no nothing....just went straight into marriage 3 months after I got saved......long story short, I started learning some stuffs about that man that I didn't know within the 6 years we were together.....right now.....we're Ex's....hmmmm......I'll encourage my people to please get counselling before marriage

Yes Zhara, the "independent girl" is a thing. I struggled with that a lot and probably still do today (after almost 15 years of marriage) but to a much lesser extent. It's something you have to be aware of and work on.

This is absolutely , definitely something that needs to be normalized. I would’ve benefited much from something like this and believe everyone should do it. I know a couple, now divorced because after a few years into marriage, the husband found out the wife couldn’t have children (she knew all along that there was the high possibility of not being able to). Pre-engagement counseling is very much needed.

Woww!! I learned so much from you guys. I'm happy I met you guys in the season where I'm getting ready to make that step soon. That point on public pressure is so real and it can really affect the way u look towards the serious issues at hand. A major reason I think pre engagement counseling is so important is that it leaves the way open and don't necessarily force couples to get married because they are now engaged and everyone is looking at them. This happens a lot in society since most persons wait until they are engaged to get pre-marital counseling then at this point they are exposed to a lot of things they are not willing to compromise with and end up stifling these issues just because of the pressure of the waiting public. As always, I love the honesty and openness from you guys. Though older than guys in age, I'm young in mind when it comes to romantic relationships (Jesus is still healing me from childhood trauma). I definitely learned something from this video. Though this was not talked about, by my observation (from this video) of you, Zhara, you showed me how to reciprocate affection when it is directed to you.
