Loveda (92) and Robert Proctor (89) from Aurora, Nebraska went missing on the evening of January 11, 2023. They were last seen at an intersection near Adams High School in Hastings, Nebraska at 1:39 A.M. driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacific with US Navy Nebraska license plate number 10 30 and a SeaBees Navy sticker.
In this documentary series, we bring you along and share the journey in the search for Loveda and Robert as the couple's family and the community were desperately searching for them and chasing down all clues in the disappearance of the Proctors before they were found deceased March 11, 2023, just 55 miles from their home.
We also hear from the couple's family members, who share personal stories about the Proctors and their love for each other. With 65 years of marriage and a life full of love, the couple is dearly missed by their family and community.
🚨MISSING COUPLE: Loveda and Robert Proctor

This is heartbreaking. When I think of how tired, frustrated, scared, and helpless she must have felt, it just breaks my heart.

People with dementia are incredibly disoriented and "in their own world". My uncles mom suffered from dementia the last 10 years of her life. Before she was admitted to a dementia care home, she would regularly leave her apartment, because anyhow she thought it was still 1980-ish, returned to the location of her original apartment, where she used to live back in the 80-s. Lucky enough, there was a diner in that building and the owner remembered her from the old days, so whenever she turned up, he sat her at a table, brought her a tea and snacks and call my uncle, who would come pick her up. She did not remember her husband was not alive anymore and it did not even come strange to her that her son was a grown man in his 50-ties and not a young university graduate. You deserve our utmost respect for helping these families find a closure

My mom has dementia and she thinks it is 2002. It has been a long time since she has driven and I am sorry for anyone suffering with a family member dealing with it. It is hard to take their driving privileges away. We did for my mom when it was a time she went off the side of the road. Not a bad time just scary. So now I take her to most appointments, and my brother lives with her and if I can't he will. It is not easy to watch them forget their family names. We can just love them and give them the best life possible and try to keep showing family pictures and keep them active.

My brother was diagnosed with dementia last year. We took his car keys away from him because I kept telling his family that I had been watching AWP and people had been found in their cars in the water. I was scared that might happen to him. This is such a sad disease for a loved one. My brother was a former college professor. He had his PHD. in History. He wrote & published a book. He had such a brilliant mind. Now, all those memories are lost. He hardly talks now. He still recognizes some of the family, but not all of them. I feel for this family that lost their grandparents. It's just so sad!

A band member from Lotus, Chuck Morris, and his son went missing March 16th at Beaver Lake in Arkansas. They were last known to be kayaking there and they have recovered their kayaks and found a jacket. You guys were one of the first things I thought of when I heard about this. I hope you guys see this and could possibly help find them. I posted this on another video of yours, and I'm not sure if anyone else has asked you to help find them because I don't have any other social media, but it seems like nobody else has asked atleast on this platform. Last I knew they had an area of interest and this is basically a guaranteed recovery mission, but I feel as though your team would have the best chance at finding them. The only thing that comes to mind that could be an issue is the depth of where they could be. If the lake bottom isn't clear, then I'd imagine it'd be hard distinguishing between bodies vs logs and debris.

My grown son has asked me why I like to watch your videos about such sad and depressing topics. The community involvement in this search is the reason. We don't have to be on-site to pray for a good outcome or an outcome that brings answers and closure for the families and friends. Positive thinking, prayer, thumbs-up, financial support; these are all ways in which we can each get involved as the national community. My heart breaks for those families and cracks a little bit more for what the AWP crew must go through with each and every case ; especially the ones they could not yet solve. It's not a happy ending for this family, but it is an ending with answers. The agony and worry can stop so the mourning and healing can begin. God bless you all!

I can’t help but feel so sad to think I’d how confused and helpless they were feeling at the time, they must of known as time went on that they were not going to make it back to their families or maybe they didn’t know, that’s my hope anyway! ♥️. My thoughts (I worked with patients in Nursing and as Emergency Rescue) on being drawn to the water at an end of the road possibly is it does look like a road from afar when it’s calm especially when it’s night or glassy to anyone even more so to someone who has problems with night vision or vision at all.

I’m so glad you are continuing this work. I just wish your “friends” wouldn’t have bailed on you. It especially looks back knowing the amount of money/cars they received right before quitting. There's guys still riding the 4 wheeler through the heifer pen checking for calves 3 or 4 times a day, in their late 80s and 90s. And don't dare talk back when he tells you what to do getting one in the barn and getting the calf pulled. The Korea War vet a knew who was like that didn't give up driving tractors til his younger brother had to lift him into the cab one spring day.

@laurelmoore5604 Жыл бұрын
Sadly for some families, it's hard for them to take the keys because from what I've seen, it's extremely difficult to have to look the family member in the face and tell them that they are no longer safe for the roads. It's hard for them to come to terms that the disease will begin to eat away at who the person was and they try to prolong it.

This was a big story around here - I’m in Hastings, my brother is in Aurora. Because of the sightings, we guessed she went off the road somewhere that they couldn’t be seen from the road. When they were finally found, we were still surprised at just how far she travelled. Because they were on a minimum maintenance road, I’m actually surprised they were found before spring. There’s a song that was released decades ago, called “The Way” by Fastball, about a couple from Texas who got in the car one day and just disappeared. They were going to a festival they went to every year, but both being elderly, they got lost and ended up in Arkansas, they were found deceased at the bottom of a ravine. It was very sad.

I’m trying to understand why one of her adult family members didn’t go with her or take her? It sounds like this was occurring around 4:00 in the afternoon that she was trying to get to the hospital. It gets dark so early in the winter and I hear the family telling you she couldn’t see to well at night. I’m sure there was a reason no one took her to the hospital, but you don’t address that. Unless I missed you discuss it. That’s always a possibility with me.

I'm from the Aurora area and when they where found it was so heartbreaking. Eventually everyone in Nebraska who could look for them since January did. When we heard the news they where found it was heartbreaking. It is very easy to not know where you are in Nebraska. It's very green, and the interstates and highways are super long. Prayers to the family.

It is nice to see the planning of these searches. It would have been interesting to hear what the man that did the drone searches did for planning his search areas.

Very relevant comment about the UTI and confusion. UTI in an elderly person can quickly make them confused, even combative or hallucinating.I know the ER and my mom's dr would get irritated when It's insist they test her urine, and every time she was acting 'off' I was right there was an UTI. She had no dementia - that's scary how fast it affected here so I can't imagine a person with glaucoma already affecting them.

I lost my mom in 2010. She suffered from all types of health problems but the most thing That got to my mom bad was diabetes. At the end of her life the diabetes made her go in to seizures and at one point it caused her to go in to a coma. After her coma she couldn't drive and her mind wasn't right it's like she slept in to something like dementia she didn't recognize me as her daughter sometimes. She thought I was her sister. I can keep going on but I won't. All I'm saying is I can relate to families that lose their family members. Health issues are nothing to play with don't matter what type it is.

Yes, UTI’s in the elderly produce the same symptoms in someone with dementia. They can get to the point to where they’re down right incoherent. It’s actually pretty common in the elderly and older individuals with poor health. My fiancé has cancer and has had two, both times he talked nonsense for hours. Also if left unchecked, a uti can turn into sepsis, so if you have an elderly family member, know the signs. I don’t think the wife had dementia, but was relying heavily off her husband for directions who did have dementia.

I’m only 53 and while probably not considered “elderly”, I’ve had UTIs turn into sepsis twice within a couple of months in 2020. It was very scary for my family. I’m glad you were there for your boyfriend and were able to get him medical care.

I noticed that when my grandpa wasn't doing well, my grandma was forgetful and couldn't think well. It happened every time he had a major health scare.

I know of two elderly people who slammed their foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing an accident. Sadly they both had to stop driving

A friend of my grandpa recently went to visit. He lives about 15 kilometers away. He came 4 hours late my grandpa was really mad at him but he explained that he left home on time and he found our village without problem but apparently spent hours driving in circles through our village and couldnt remmeber which house was ours. It was just very weird to me. He is fine and doesnt have dementia atleast not diagnosed. He said he was fully aware the entire time he just kept driving.

People with dementia get tunnel vison and are fixated on moving forward, never deviated no matter what is in their way. My father had dementia. My son (17 at the time) tells of a time during a storm when he and his grandfather went to try an buy a gas powered generator because the power was out. Power lines were down in the street on a road and my father tried to drive around the barrier, freaking out a cop and my son. My son said, "Grandpa, we can just take (other road)" My father went, "Oh yeah," and only then did he change direction. We took his keys away.

This is so sad 😔 I am glad though that they were together til the end. I've been with my husband 22 years (April 13th) and I've always hoped we could go home together when God calls us. Prayers for the family during this difficult time.

I remember when I worked at FatDogs in Lexington Pumping Gas for them. She would come in and ask for assistance, also he had used the restroom once and I helped her get him into the truck and his wheelchair into the back of the vehicle. They were so very kind. They must have traveled a lot as Lexington is quite a drive. I can't believe I did not realize this was them until this video. 😢😢
