I have the Mountain series 2019. I did not purchase at Thompson RV so no reflection on them. Every window but one has leaked, the big rear dinette window was installed at factory with no sealant so it just rattled around in the wall loose, the entire window had to be replaced. The tail lights filled with water so much I just drilled a hole in the bottom of the lens for a drain. On the maiden voyage arrived at campground to find rear trailer tire with no tread, completely skinned off from a bent axle. No off road, nothing but smooth freeways. When I called factory for help the service guy actually said "that's not our problem, call Dexter Axle ". To start the generator I just leave the wires exposed and touch them together like your hot wiring a car. Waiting for new switch for 6 months. Now out of warranty. So folks just remember Outdoors RV is just another company that has big talk up front with nothing once the sale is made. These are just the highlights.

I really like the backcountry series, my only complaint is the generator being housed below the bed......why not put it in the rear, away from the bed?
@AdventurousWay4 жыл бұрын
That's a very good observation! Indeed that doesn't seem a fortune place for a generator.
@jstbig14 жыл бұрын
Oh just wait, they didn't factor the weight of the generator in at factory, it's hanging outside the frame bolted to the plywood floor. It will soon start to fatigue the floor and the whole corner of trailer will start to droop rather like Paris Hiltons sleepy eye.

This brand has some strong points of you camp in cold weather. Their tanks are enclosed, the tanks valves are enclosed too, and the enclosed area are heated by ducts from the heating system. If you have camped with trailers that have 12v heated tanks, you wake up freezing with dead batteries.

Why don’t they make the numbers match the trailer length instead of the bed length? I drove 100 miles because the salesman insisted it was a 26’ unit, when I got there it was really a 32’ unit.

I have watched many videos of the people from Thompson RV. This young woman seems extremely knowledgeable always seems professional in the way she dresses and in the way she presents her product. She has helped me to get a grip on the world of RV and for me she has set the bar high for the local sales people that I have to deal with. I had one sales person dress in ratty jean, old T shirt that more than showed his beer belly, and he did not look like he had shaved in days. As I was leaving I stopped in the office and told the manager what I had encountered and suggested they make all their employees watch the Thompson RV vids.

"Stout" that's a good word. I always used the term "Built like a tank". We were one of those "Midwestern" people who drove 4500 miles RT to pick our Timber Ridge unit up from Thompson RV back in the fall of 17'. We were "looking" for a new RV for 18 months. A little bit of a FYI here. While looking at 2018 Timber Ridges at another dealer, they had the "large" Timber Ridge" decal on the sides of the trailer. When we finally bought or 2018 TR a few months later from Thompson, after the walk-thru, and paperwork, we drove over the mountain to a La Grande campground that afternoon. I couldn't get "something" out of my mind. I didn't know what it was. I thought we covered everything in the walk-thru....something just wasn't right....I would walk around and around the exterior of the unit, not knowing what I was trying to find. Here, midway thru the 2018 model year, they ( Factory) took the large "Timber Ridge" decals off the sides of the trailer, and replaced it with "Mountain Series" decals. Even the picture off Thompson RV website showed the large TR decals. I guess ORV wanted to promote trim level (Mountain Series / Titanium) over the actual model. I ended up buying two decals from ORV ($60) and put them on. We were so impressed with the build quality and stout-ness, we bought the unit first, and took the factory tour the next day....The following summer I was the first "wagon-master" for the 1st annual ORV East Coast Rally.

@CorrinThompson, it must have been my lucky day, i just ended up on this site, hearing an angel. I have a question is there any way that back in 2003 ish you guys took over the Tahoe TranSport hybrid toy-hauler model 20TB TT. Ramp in the rear and the folding Bed Door [tent 80x60] out thru the front, two jack knife couches in back. It start as a THOR, they were taken over or sold to , MVP 2003+, i lost all connect in 2021 when i got her, she need some TLC to make her shine again, if there is anything you can tell me about 2003 THOR/MVP 20TB, OR A DIRECTION TO GFO, I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.

During my 3 years of research and finally dialing in on my 2019 270RKS, I looked at a lot of trailers on Thompson’s website. I like that ORV doesn’t flood every lot with their dealership and seem to pick quality dealers to allow to sell their product. I lived in Chico when I bought mine and Mike Friend’s is a small dealership that sells ORV (and now Lance since the dealership burned down in the Camp Fire). Mike Friend’s is also a family run business! They’re highly regarded by the area and I absolutely love them. Glad to see ORV seems to pick these types of dealers! Now I’m in Missoula and the ORV dealer here is super awesome as well! PS I primarily Boondock in my 270 :^)

Nice job Matt & Diana and of course its always great to see Corrin from Thompson RV. We drove from Minnesota to purchase our 2019 260RLS Titanium sight unseen. We definitely put our faith in Thompson RV to come through for us and they definitely hit a home run. It tows really well and within days had it at 9500 ft in the Teton pass snow and sleet! Effortless! The crew at Thompson had taken the time to go over the unit and test everything. They even ran the furnace to save us the initial heat up horrors of smoke in the rig. I have had absolutely zero problems with our trailer after 4000 plus miles. Quality RV, Wonderful dealer and this video is a great explanation for those who are considering purchasing. Great job! Fell in love with Outdoors RV before I found your channel * a bonus! As you explained in your video ORV only make a small number of the Glacier Peak 5th Wheels and I couldn’t find one in the Titanium Series anywhere close to me . . . . The big tank sizes were one of the reasons we were drawn to Outdoors RV in the first place - even on our 25ft 21RBS we have a 40 gallon grey tank and 40 gallon black tank, not to mention a 78 gallon fresh tank. With those size tanks, two of us can comfortably live off-grid for 2 weeks at a time.

What would you recommend as starting point at look at for F150 towable, relatively short? Options for genie, solar, 12 frig? Be driving from FL. Thanks
@AdventurousWay3 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of variation in weight ratings on F-150s, so double check carefully what your truck is capable of. This blog post might be useful for you: www.adventurousway.com/blog/why-we-love-our-ford-f-150 In general, it's likely that your biggest restriction on an F-150 will be the payload - particularly if you're planning to have several passengers and / or things in the truck bed. As such, you'll be wanting to look at the smaller trailers. We've been towing a 21RBS with our F-150 for over 2 years of full-time RVing now.

Hard to find a trailer between a Winnebago Micro Minnie, Grand Design, Lance, and this less than 22' long, torsion axle, 2.5" lift, without a slide and no side-bed. If they use torsion axles, they will be better, but of course, axle less is the best for true off-road.
@AdventurousWay4 жыл бұрын
Have you seen BlackSeries? They have axle less trailers, the HQ15 model is about 22' long and a no side-bed: www.blackseriescamper.com/travel-trailers/hq15.html But I agree, it's hard to find a small trailer with a no-side bed. That was one of our requirements too. We looked into modding our trailer to be axle less but decided it wasn't necessary for our use case.

We lived in California, so I am not sure about dealers in Florida. But Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa is coming up in January. Big RV shows are a great place to check out lots of RVs because dealers usually don't carry a very large range of manufacturers. www.frvta.org/show/florida-rv-supershow/ After you decided which manufacturer RV you want to buy, then find a dealer that carries that manufacturer (and read dealer reviews).
