Here’s why I love this: First of all I feel like I’m getting advice from a friend... Second, I just got a peak into what to expect working at my first shop especially being woman in the industry...your narrative is soo important... I know your experience is unique to you but if there’s one thing I took from this it’s “ be so good they can’t ignore you” 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I’m running out of ways to say “ thank you for sharing this” but as barber student your insight/ journey is soo important to me. So thank you for this!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Omg thank you so much for this message. It means a lot to me!! To know how it’s being delivered and absorbed to others effectively is crucial for me. I get the same feeling when i read books. Some is hard to digest and others feel like I’m talking to someone and those i tend to finish faster. Thank you for ur insight ! It helps me direct a lot of ideas ! 🤩🖤

Glad I found your channel.....I’m a 16 year cosmetologist and I do have a clientele, however I start barber college this Wednesday because I really wanna focus more on men’s grooming. I’m ready for a shift in the industry.... I only have a few male clients that I’ve been cutting for years and I’m finally ready to expand. It’s refreshing to find some lady barbers 💈 here on KZbin....you are appreciated.

Another Banger Sofie. I’ve seen it first hand where clients ask for male barbers not knowing the experience or skill level of a female barber. But on the flip note.. female barbers are bigger and badder then ever. I tell my female barber friends all the time. Thank you for sharing your journey. Oh maybe you can make a video on how you hold your babyliss clippers when cutting. Hand position and stroke. Nobody really breaks that down.

Thank you so much! Its true, whether you are a guy or a girl, the opportunities are the same. You just gotta want it bad and work ur assss off. Thats a fantastic idea actually. I'll add that to my list :D

I can relate to what you said about people not wanting you to cut them based on looks. Late 90’s early 2000’s I was the only white guy that worked in an all black shop. Only white guy that I ever knew of that cut everybody hair. It definitely worked in my advantage as far as marketability once I proved myself. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Love that. Yes its so fun honestly. Even when i was in beauty school, i naturally drifted towards short hair and all my classmates always sent them over to me :)

This video is so helpful. I’ve been a fan of yours for years and you inspired me to become a barber. It’s reassuring to hear advice and how you started in the same place I’m in from someone with great success and a large clientele. Keep doing your thing and putting out content 💓💈

Hey Sofie! Thanks for taking the time to do these videos for us newbies that are starting this new part of their lives. Your advice has helped me to build the courage to finally change careers to do something I love, and I just started taking barber classes so I can get my license. A huge hug and much love from Portugal, thanks for everything

This video is amazing!! A lot of great information here! My question to you is how would you adjust or change any of this information because of the Covid Pandemic and how that has short of changed the dynamic of booking and starting new. I have a barbershop position offered full time when I’m finished school in a month. I took my government money and invested into myself bought some babyliss custom fx clippers and some skeleton fx and babyliss pro foil shavers. What would you recommend with first steps getting clients and continuing education? I’ll be commuting from the suburbs to Philadelphia for a few months until I move and these are some factors im wondering about finding my clientele when I first start.

you got on the hamster wheel lol its ok it happens to everyone at one time or another, BUT evolve or repeat. You already know what you need to do, just do the work you're trying to avoid...the gems are in there. 🥳

Hi Sofie I know this is an old video but maybe youll see this comment since it looks like you respond to people. Ive been a licensed cosmetologist for 4 years now and I mainly do mens haircuts but at a chain salon and I really want to branch out to a barber shop now that im much more confident in myself and in my haircuts but im worried that they might not hire me because I dont have the barbering license. I know I can legally work at one with my current license but would you recommend I get the barbers license or have you seen cosmetologist at barber shops be successful even without using the straight razor? I guess Im just curious to see if I should invest my money into my local barber school crossover program or not

Do you tell the client in your chair your social network name? As you are talking to them?
@Staygold313 жыл бұрын
I won't take walk ins anymore, mainly appt now so if they do book, they usually already know me from instagram. When I was dealing with new clients, its not information I try to throw to people as if they need to know what my stats are. I treat them all the same in my chair :)

i am not a barber having said that i am a artist on a different level and based on personal experience just because your good does not mean that everybody is going to like you no matter how confident or friendly you are and part of your negative experience with some of your customers could have been based on that so dont be so quick to blame yourself for everything !!

In Houston Southeast Houston I went to Barber school with a girl named shorty and I would get my haircut by her over anybody else because she had soft hands and it was nice and she could cut good hair I will take a female Barber over a male any day but that's just me I'm been a barber for all my life
