I wear my "retired" long bob wig for swimming, I use a Buff as a headband and put the hair up in a claw clip. Works well!

I have a 4 year old Ellen Wille Sky wig that I wear for water aerobic classes that I attend 6 days a week. I get asked all the time who does my hair. Even when it gets wet no one knows it’s a wig. It has held up beautifully!

You are such a light in this world! I don't go swimming because my hubby doesn't like water, but I was impressed with this video!! Thank you sweet Denise!!
Will have to try one of my shorties in my water aerobics class! I’ve worn a longer style up in a ponytail, but I think the shorter style will be even better. Thanks for the reminder!!

Thank you! We got so lucky finding this place... since it is out in the country a bit we didn't have to pay city prices so we were able to sell our house in the city and get this one and have the same mortgage payment... we downsized the house to upsize the yard, lol. Sometimes I do miss having more room in the house, especially in the bathroom!

Hey Denise! Great wig and information. I'm brand new to wigs and you're helping me so much. I have only put on a budget friendly wig so far and having issues on getting the "bra" type tabs right for a good fit at the neck. Also, it wants to slid back from my forehead too. Just got a velvet wig grip but haven't tried it yet. Hope by getting the bottom adjusters in the right slots plus the grip will make it stay on my head and look a bit natural. I also got the Saffire long curly wig you reviewed, going to try it on next. Fingers crossed!! One more thing, when putting it on, is the correct way to always start from the forehead and then pull back over the head? Thanks so very much!! Big hugs from Texas!🤗😍
@ranelson7142 ай бұрын
Put it about halfway on your forehead, pull it back over your head, adjust the ear tabs and place it at your hairline.
@alp62442 ай бұрын
Hi @kellyw.1779 I had that same issue of wig slippage because my thin bio hair is so silky soft. None of the velvet grips or combo cap/grips stayed in place or kept my wigs from slippage until I started using “It Stays” roll-on wig glue or got2B brand wig glue spray. I spray my bio hair at hairline, sides and nape before attaching my wig cap/grip, then I spray glue in same areas over wig cap/grip, and my wig stays put all day. As for the bra tabs at nape, once you find the right fit/adjustment, tack them in place with a few stitches. They have a tendency sometimes to come undone and might end up showing from under your wig. BTW, both wig glue products are water soluble, so when I remove my wig, I use a wet wipe or facecloth to wipe the glue off my bio hair. Comes off easily.

I wish I shared your confidence in wig grips. I have yet to find one that keeps my wug in place during the day, let alone in the pool, and, yes, I've bought every grip you have ever recommended.
@heywigsister2 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry you are struggling. Have you seen my video where I show how to use some hairspray on your bio hair to help secure a wig grip that slips on slippery hair? I used to have to do that before I buzzed my hair. Here is a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn7ah3WmgqqXiJI

@@SandraKennedy-zh2ms Having followed Denise’s advice to spray my front hairline and nape area with adhesive wig spray, (I like got2B) since I’ve had slippage issues with wig grips/caps from day one of my wig journey, I also spray my wig grip in the same areas, and that method secures my wig all day, however, these sprays are water soluble, so you wouldn’t be able to get your wig wet.
@SandraKennedy-zh2ms2 ай бұрын
@@alp6244 exactly. Got2b, It Stays, etc., are all water soluable. I may try spraying the grip if I ever decide to try swimming in a wig, though.

Is there any way to get fuzzy sections tamed in a wig? I have a curly wavy wig that has gotten fuzzy on the left side at the back . Thanks so much
@heywigsister2 ай бұрын
It depends on what caused it... if heat somehow got to it (as it can when you open the oven) then probably not because the heat melted it... you can try using a clothing steamer and a comb to smooth them out, but keep in mind you will straight any curl and wave pattern.

Does the rough side of the wig grip go up or onto your hair? I find that I need to put the rough side on my hair to hold the wig grip in place otherwise it all slides off my head. Doesn't help that I don't have an occipital bone to hold anything to my head. Have to use clips/bobby pins to hold everything to my head. I finally tried a silicone wig grip. Had the bumps up and it all slid iff my head. Turned the bumps onto my hair and my wigs stay on. Only problem is it gives me a headache; feels like a vice grip. Thank you for this informative video. Will have to get a lace front short haired wig so I can swin with my grandkids in their pool.
@lidip87002 ай бұрын
As Denisa demonstrated, the side with the smooth/rough side goes up. Then make sure to wrap the grip around your head snug, with the rough nap going from forehead & back. This resistance will hold your wig in place. When you put your grip on, put your hand on the grip right at your forehead, then stroke your grip/head. If you don't feel a resistance, you have it on wrong.
@ranelson7142 ай бұрын
@@lidip8700My hair is very fine, straight and smooth which makes it slick. I understood the rough side should be against the hair to help hold the wig in place. Doing it the other way allows the grip and the wig to slide off my head. Maybe I need to use some double sided wig tape.
@barbk13132 ай бұрын
I find that spraying hair spray around the perimeter of my head where the wig grip goes helps it stay in place better. I’ll usually press the grip into my hair as the spray is drying. Even just using dry shampoo or piece out cream helps also because it gives my fine, thin, bio hair some texture for the wig grip to hold onto.
@ranelson7142 ай бұрын
@@barbk1313 I most definitely will try that! Thank you.
