Hey, take the offer if that's the only offer you've got. A better option would be to work in operations or risk as they can work closely with asset management, whereas internal audit has no connection with asset management whatsoever. Either way, the best way to increase your chances of a move later on is to make sure that you're a top performer in whichever role you end up doing. Don't get stuck there. Keep an eye out for new opportunities. Be ready to move after a year or two.

I understand that corporate may not be for me and so I decided to take a side step (or most in Fmcg would call it a back step) in my career to allow me time to work and think about my ventures. I understood that if I was to climb up too fast within my corporate career, then it would consume most of my energy, physically and mentally. I'd love to get further advice from you in a 1-1 setting. Afzal, I am 27, I got back to university during COVID and my commerce degree allows me to take finance, accounting, HR and much more.... but I ended up choosing operations management. Now I am feeling loss and fearful about the earning potential. Operations interests me a little bit more than finance, because it covers other topics like people, process, and IT. Nah man. Defo going to be harder for you. But best bet is try get some experience over summer even if it's not industry related. Next year start applying early to internships. Apply for back office, non-ib industries like consulting, etc. Spread your eggs across various opportunities and industries. Bolster up your CV. Main thing is to get into the interview room. You do that by creating a solid CV and cover letter (I've done vids on these). Then you can start focusing on interview prep etc.
