This celebrity roast was a master class for expiring comedians. Most of today's comedians need to watch this and similar roastmasters to know that they do not have to make obscene gesters and spew vulgarity in order to get a laugh. All is needed for gut-busting laughter is a combination of comedic talent, quick wit, perfect timing, and a certain level of class. And surely, the comedians in this celebrity roast - most certainly and unequivocally - possessed those natural-born qualities, all in combination.

If we could turn back time I would for the generation of today, they are lost and confused no one seems to be of a working moral compass to guide their way. As depressing as my post sounds, it's even worse living amongst insane, entitled and disrespectful people who have no interest in becoming a contributing, America loving American citizen. The one good thing I can see is biblical prophecies unfolding rapidly and Jesus will return soon.

I stop on these mostly to recall with much happiness, how fortunate we were to be among these greats, most legends at their craft. There was something about them, a class and style very seldom seen today. Thanks for the memories!

Definitely a generous slice of that generation's best entertainers, who by 1978 appealed predominantly to adults over 40. They were already becoming relics in the eyes of the younger generation, and soon to be more so, once the 80s arrived.

Ruth Buzzi and Rich Little are the only ones still alive from this Roast... Amazing. The stories they could tell.

Love watching these. Nobody took offense, they all loved each other with their jokes. They don’t make them like these greats anymore.

Frank was always a classy man. Influential and made a big statement when he refused to honor a hotel with his patronage when they wouldn't let Sammy Davis stay there due to segregation at the time.

Mann! It was SO GOOD SEEING all these people again!! They had Orson Wells and Peter Falk up there for goodness sake!! These tines seemed so much simpler back then (I guess so sine I was a kid! 😊) - just your TV set (w\only 7 channels!); no X or INSTAGRAM and all that noise surrounding your head... I miss these times AND PEOPLE! Such a marvelous video - thanks for having this up on KZbin! ❤👍

Dean Martin was a very special human being. He put Italian culture on display better than anyone in any industry. And proved why it's without question the best on planet earth.

I remember watching these roasts when originally aired; they were major events. TV then was heavily censured, but they still found prases & ways to insinuate their scathing dirty jokes (but no profanity). Hollywood's golden age of celebrities. I've loved roasts ever since.
