Transcript of "Advocacy Video Series - Part 13" produced by Rooted in Rights Alright, my fellow advocacy video makers. We have made it to Editing - Part 13! You've written it. You've filmed it. You have footage ready to be made into a video. Go wherever you get your apps for your device and download Kinemaster. K-I-N-E-M-A-S-T-E-R. It is a free app, and it gives us a lot of great editing tools. Now, I'm going to be showing some screenshots in the background while I'm explaining how to use Kinemaster. If you go to the link in our bio, we actually have a fully written out tutorial for Kinemaster, if that is a better way for you to learn, or if you want to follow along there while I explain here. So behind me is the Kinemaster app. Doesn't look like much right now. The first step that you're going to want to take when opening Kineaster is selecting "Create New." So on the bottom of the Kinemaster app there are four options, and the third one is "Create." And it will open up this orange bar above you that says "Create New." After you select "Create New," you are going to select an aspect ratio. This is very, very small, but there is 16:9 and 9:16, which we talked about earlier when we're setting it up. So match your aspect ratio to however you filmed. If you filmed vertically, pick that 9:16. If you filmed horizontally, pick 16:9. Here is your blank Kinemaster template. Again, this is very small. It will look bigger on your phone. Or, if you have an iPad, that also helps with visibility as well. I should say, too, that I'm teaching Kinemaster because it's a free app that works on the devices that I have used. If you have something that you like and you want to use it, by all means, use that. I just want to give options for folks who are brand new to editing or have struggled to find an app that they like that's free. There's a couple features here on this main page. There is a click wheel to the upper right and the first thing that's really highlighted on it is a little folder that says "Media." That's how you're going to access and bring in all of the things that you filmed into this app and into the timeline, which will be on the bottom, and the preview screen, which will be on the upper left-hand side. When you select "Media," it will bring up a folder of everything that's on your device. So you will be able to access everything that you filmed, anything that you want to pull in. I recommend for this first phase, which will be creating our string out, going to what you have recorded of hosting and bringing in all of your hosting, in order, into the timeline. It's up to you if you want to edit takes one at a time or bring them all in together. I like to bring them all in together. More next! End of Transcript
