@@luket1815 I think this is an important aspect of the issue. Especially in gangs, they are raised soldiers. 12 year old kids getting initiated by violence. It is wrong. But it is also America. The world has shown that there is ways to keep things like this to less violence. There is a really sad story that was passed around Detroit when I was living there of a skater taking his friend to the east side, and a little kid blasting him with a shotgun. He survived. I know a lot of people would like to blame this on race. But the root problem is our society. Other countries have been able take the reigns on these issues .It is really sad. Dude probably grew up with the idea of killing someone for what you want is what a man does. Whether his regret is genuine, we will never know. But we know that the US has used soldiers for the same purpose, and they are expected to feel justified. But some soldiers are wrecked by guilt. And the fights the US has funded is a whole different matter. No US soldiers .Just guns and money that have left scars on entire countries. The problem is our culture. Lives are cheap.

If he broke down and said “I deserve what the family says I deserve. I can never fix what I’ve done. That’s all I’m going to say”, I’d at least have a measure of respect for him. That piece of garbage isn’t crying over the woman he murdered and the man he permanently injured, he’s crying because he’s terrified of spending life in prison. He’s not sorry, he desperately wishes he had never been caught, and I imagine in some insanely twisted way, he’s convinced himself in his head that he’s somehow the victim. I am thankful this man got life in prison, it’s clear the only person he truly feels sorry for here is himself.
