I'm pretty sure that's Tsuchiya-san's 86. I think all AE86 drivers are jealous of it. It is a shining example of what we strive for in a street focused car.

thousands, respray alone is $2.5-3,000 (US) and the chassis work is another ~2500. End result is pretty amazing, cheaper if DIY

I learned tig in high school. I use it every so often. Had to weld my 02 tacoma 2.4l 5spd back togeather. The rust was horrific and it nearly split in half. Flexing when accelerating. Use 3/16 steel plates everywhere. "Rust though that, bitch!" had it since 2012. I went through the mountains of utah heat and colorado blizzard. Literally hell and back. Way over the towing and hualing limit for a small 4 cylinder and it just doesn't die (battery has occasionally lol) I will always drive japanese. I even got a Isuzu box truck for a rv conversion im working on. The diaphram vaccum pump just went out and wont do much luckily i found a half of new one for it. Welding has helped me tremendously and I couldn't recomend it enough. I have mastered Mig then done stick and fencing and mastered it for a farm (6010). I still cant find the right settings for TIG alum and its just impossible, I have tried everything.

Would love to know that undercoating. I have a 2002 tacoma 5spd. its rusting away and nearly split in half. it was real bad. I took off the bed, shot it clean and welded new steel. I got it in 2012 and I still have it. The ONLY thing i replaced was a master cyclinder and and o2 sensor. 9 years and still climbing. From 90k to up to about 135k miles now. Still going strong. and I beat the shit outta it hauling and towing way to much. It just wont die and I wouldn't drive anything else

If the Japanese are saying takai, (which means expensive btw), it's ridiculously expensive to a person in the US. I'm sure people would turn to the other cheek because they would rather do something else to the car to make it faster.

What a basket case... was it really worth saving this shell? Are AE85/86 really so rare even in Japan?
@alekschuck55486 жыл бұрын
Raczej było warto robić to AE86, bo jego właścicielem jest Keiichi Tsuchiya i posiada on ten samochód od prawie 30 lat do dzisiaj :D
@Cricis117006 жыл бұрын
Jan Kuratczyk you're really ignorant or you really don't know shit, that shell probably goes for 3K in Japan alone, a full AE86 in Japan costs about 30K now in days.
@kize325 жыл бұрын
I think that was Tsuchiya's personal car in the first place so he wanted to save it. Plus TRD wouldn't put their tuning into a stock shell even if it was like new. This car got invested more than 100 000 $ in the last 20 years. Now it has all carbon fibre bodywork and it has changed 2-3 engines tuned to the max by the best engine builders in Japan
