Check out ‪@initialdweebs4050‬ channel for more AE86 and JDM project car goodness!
In todays video we are continuing the process of shaving the engine bay on the bike carbed 4AGE ae86 project. Man is it a lot of work! Shaved engine bay s take a lot of work and even more time!.
A while back, we attempted to start the recently completed ae86 engine swap. The 4age engine swap was converted to run off of a series of bike carbs from a Yamaha yzf600r motorcycle . This jdm bike carbed 4age 16v engine will power the ae86 trueno coupe. The jdm 4age 16v engine is out of an AE92 and was converted to also run in the ae86 rwd orientation. This automotive build vlog documents the complete ae86 build project and the obstacles that may get in the way with a diy jdm project car.
In this video I also explain how to properly shave a strut tower for a smooth, one piece look. I need your help and opinions on what to do with the seams in the shaved engine bay . Specifically the seams along the firewall. Do we fully weld and shave or use a thin bead of seam sealer? In any case we have to complete the engine bay before we paint the ae86 build project . Stay tuned for more updates to come on the project ae86. Maybe one day we will take the ae86 drift ing !! ea86 ae68 corrola toyoda ae86 project

Thanks so much for the kind words! I know its been a while, but more progress is definitly coming. My buddy took the welder for a bit and I just got it back this past weekend. I plan on getting back out there this weekend to finish up the welds in the bay and start filler work. Also, look forward to s garage update video this weekend 👍

What you did on the compact right side was to weaken and weld that would not do it in my case it would be better to weld in the factory tie and then lower with the stone
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. I think I understand what you are saying. I left all the factory spot welds on the strut towers, so the oem "strength" should still be there. I basically just cleaned it up a bit. Thanks for tuning in!

Honestly I am not sure. My car was manual from the factory. You may have to modify an automatic harness in order to get it to work with a manual but I do not know. Sorry, hope this helps a bit!

Does shaving an engine bay do anything or is it just eye candy? Thinking of doing it with my ae86 but don't know if it is worth it
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! If you will be dailying your ae86 I would not consider it. Welding the engine bay to the extent I have will stiffen up the chassis, but may also affect the cars OEM crumple zones in the case of a head on collision. One of the main reasons I am doing this is for the wow factor and the challange of me actually doing it. I want people jaws to drop when the hood is popped at car shows 🤯. With all that being said, you dont have to weld up all the seams like I am doing to achieve a shaved/clean bay. Thinned down seam sealer will also do wonders as hiding seams as opposed to welding them. Hope this helps!
