Well, he is the drift king Keiichi tsuchiya.. and he was also a driver of the GT500 series in JGTC. Now he is the manager for that team.

It is kinda ironic to see that Keiichi's Helmet had Honda on it and the other guy had Toyota. Cuz Keiichi was driving Toyota AE86 and the other guy (sry cant read his name) was driving Honda Integra Type R

yeah also RWD cars can usually corner faster because they can power slide, a slight controllable oversteer. FWD cannot simply because the front tires would loose too much traction and cannot turn if it went as fast as the RWD provided all other things being constant

@juno4000 so many cars are fwd now. just making do with what is available. the AE86 chassis has been out of production for 24 years. and not all fwd cars suck. the Spoon K20 EK9 smashes!

It's a Civic Type R B16A engine they swapped into it for higher RPM and performance, and it says with giant yellow letters at the start that it's an Integra Type R. Grow a pair of eyes, might help.

@nickholla Kinda hard to argue that when there are FWD's that will destroy your muscle car on a road course or AutoX. It's a matter of knowing where your grip is in the different drivetrain layouts.

@MrsHugzies ur right about RWD advantages but see the DC2 and most TYPE R hondas are made for track racing..... Since u mention weight ok then to make it far how about you put up a eg6 civic with b18 swap thats far and GSR or not it does matter each engine is at its performace level..... Never underestimate a FWD especially hondas

thats a b16b engine which comes in the civic type r. it uses the b18c head on the b16 block. it revs higher then a b18c.

Actually it is a ITR the only thing is that it has a CTR engine in it they must have swaped it in, why? i dont know, but that doesnt matter the 4age is also a 1.6L it all comes down to the suspension setup and driver skill.

As an AE86 trueno owner, I can confirm that th 86 is a beast on corners compared to any other car, stock or tuned

@vboytan Levin has flip up headlights like the MR2 mk2, trueno has fixed rectangle, or vice versa i dont quite remember, and there both considered corolla/sprinters

lol, FWD cars practically invented understeer. The fact is that FF cars CAN understeer but can be balanced by over steer because the momentum slides the rear tires off traction. However FR cars have no such capability and btw its the curves or the CORNERS that matters the most that is where most passing is done. straight way passing is only done when a car has significantly MORE POWER but in circuit racing all cars are limited to the amount of HP they produce.

ITR is running a b16a only....Not a frankenstien, if thats what you meant to say. Why would you want the b16b head over the higher flowing b16a1 head?? I own a gsr, so not too familiar with b16 specs. Anyway, this race is bs in my oppinion. Power-to-weight means everything, and that ae86 weighs 2100-2300 lbs (depending on the spec sheet you read), vs a 2580 lb motor-swapped (now under-powered due to much less torque) ITR....WTF?!?!?!

Ok this race is more about handling than power. The cars power is about the same and the difference in the gear boxes doesn't make much difference cause they accelerate off corners and off the line nearly the same. The integra is at a slight disadvantage as far as acceleration goes as demonstrated by the way both cars left the line. But if you look closely tsuchiya(86) brakes later in each and every corner. Each time the integra tries to match the corner entrance speed of the 86 he under stears

aaaah yeah sorry gotta agree with xxturbo..FR faster in acceleration than ff cause the weight shifts thru to the back an gives the car more grip while fwd lifts up at the front...

umm.. no it didn't.. the honda integra type-r came with a b18c the only integra that came with a b16 is the DA 90-93 honda integra XSI/RSI why this ITR has a b16 in it... is beyond me...

in newzealand B16B head off a CTR bolted onto a ITR B18CR block is what we call frankenstein or anything along those mods B20B CRV block onto a B16B haed is pretty common here

@M1911A1 lol both have their strengths and weaknesses. I get a thrill out of both for different reasons. FWD makes me feel more connected to the road while RWD allows me to feel the weight differently.

Better speed carried consistently trough the corners and better acceleration because of the higher RPM at the exit of a corner. Not to mention it's lighter, again improving acceleration. Try to refrain from calling people morons in the future.

People trying to make out like this AE86 being faster than this integra has anything to do with front or rear wheel drive are mistaken...if the integra weighed as much as an 86 then things would be a lot more interesting.

This DC2 doesn't. It has the head from a B16A. It also has over sized pistons. Same B18 block.

well it's weird that this DC2 has the B16 engine. it should have the B18. but anyway be polite and keep in mind that the AE86s engine is also 1.6 liters. so the comparison is fair.the DC2 lost in the curves not in the straight. because its heavyer and FF.

FWD was meant for economy. Doesn't belong on a race track. You're fighting physics with a fwd. I'm a muscle car guy, that means I know why rwd is better.

@sunnyddude I wpuldnt say its ugly. Just the styling is a bit dated. But isnt that just part of the charm of the car. Besides despite having a boxey shape at least it doesnt look like it was drawn by a child with a ruler like other japanese cars from the 80's like the skiline R31. Actualy when you think about it the proportions on the AE86 are kind of nice. But honda stil make nicer looking cars

i do not know what type motor the AE86 it has but the 2.0 is much bigger is something here it doesn't go correct...Toyota motor is not the 1.6 factory

+Raymond Torres That 86 in the video has a 7AGE instead of the factory 4AGE, which makes it go from a 1.6 to a 1.8 liter motor

ok so is the 86 a corolla or a sprinter? I know the 85 is the levin and the 86 is a trueno. But are those just a variation of the corolla in a sporty way or are they a totally different car from the corolla?

where did you get those numbers? Keiichi's AE86 is only 165ps and 926Kg... I own a Honda but have to admit the AE86 is a good car.

that 86 is very quik to be holding off the b18R. AND IT HANDLES GOOD TO. AND BRAKES LATER THE THE DC2. THATS WHY I WOULD RATHER HAVE A 86 AND DAY. BUT I DO LIKE DCR ALOT.

B18C, not the B16 variant ... imo the battle wasn't fair, the Drift King obviously felt the most comfortable in his own personal AE86, while Manabu Orido struggled in the DC2. They should have at least switched cars or let Hattori drive the DC2, as far as I know he's very good with the FFs ...

If you put it up against a 130hp AE86, I'd imagine the results would be the same. Hondas are no where near as fast around corners as AE86's.

2 of the best sounding engines in the world imo... f*ck big V8s and turbo power, its all about lightweight small capacity NAs. The B18C has to be one of the best engines ever produced

not necessarily because it understeers....FF cars is faster in acceleration than the FR cars so it doesnt matter in the curves...its jusdt the drivers skills that determind who won

Really?! I checked and still didn't see it. Look at 0:35, it clearly says B16 which would mean that this B-series engine is a 1.6 liter. Can u tell me where in the video it says 1.8? Maybe I just overlooked it.

Thats why tsuchiya is the best its always the drivers who can be totally relaxed and having fun while racing that do better cause they have faith in their skills and equipment and they can come up with faster lines.And if i had to guess why he cant meet qualification in d1 is because he probably goes to fast into the corners and during the drifts that just figures they wont let him compete just because he is better driver then any other driver there whats the world coming to.

The Civic Type R outperforms the S2000 on a track course. This Ae86's enigne is not stock and it only weighs 2,000lbs. Typically you see the FF powered car do better then this but I think the AE86 has the power to weight advantage, the integra driver did everything correctly. The AE86 is simply taking advantage with a superior driver and a car with better power to weight. Put this driver in a S2000 and the outcome would most likely be different. OR use the damn B18 in the integra!! AWESOME AE86!

@AE86TougeRacerimpossible that they are original, s-15's were only sold in japan, australia and new zealand, they neveer made a left hand drive varient, but yes the ka24de was never put into the s-15 as the s-15 never was sold in the states, seriously go on wikipedia and look up nissan silvia

make a driveshaft to the back,cant realy explain in english but i guess you can adjust a driveshaft from an s2000 or some other car to fit the integra

the dc2r in this video has a b16a because this is a 1600cc shootout race, what i dont understand is why they wouldnt just put a eg6 or ek9 in the race...?

@d9thwonder That EK9 was a lot less powerful than the AE86 , honestly , he could tail the honda with 30% throttle O.O Anyway , imma still honda fans cause of their engine and the fact that they keep making new models of it ~ But they should work on a replacement for this AE86, something that people would say , that the new one would beat the old AE86 at every aspect , while still remaining the attributes of the old AE86 , but i love both of them cars :D BOTH OLD, YET HIGH POTENTIAL .

@d9thwonder i agree with that , but honestly , i bet you're a car fan too right ? Look at the tuning ! Its horrible ! Understeer horribly every corner ( yes i know almost all honda's tend to understeer , but not this badly )

dude do u know why FF are faster in acceleration...because it enters a corner slow and exits fast but an FR enters a corner fast but exit slow...for eg...a FF enters at 110mph and exits at 130mph...and a FR may enter at 160 but exit at 130...they both exit at the same speed but the FR delayed its braking point which also resulting in the FR being more faster than the FF...but the FF can reach the exit speed so quickly while it enters so slow...thats why its acceleration is faster

@nickholla the price of a dc2r today is 13k clean, while an ae86 gts with NO damage is 10k. theres not much of a price difference. and a stock ae86 cant beat a stock DC2R. So stay off the track. if you've ever seen BMI they race fwds against rwds and the FWD wins alot of the times. there was even a hot version episode where an eg6 beats an ae86, nsx, and an s2k. and it wasnt even going to compete. and since when does being a muscle car guy mean buying a SOHC 1.6 liter engine powered car?
