I just got off the Arizona Trail using the Aegismax Nano 2. Several nights it dropped to 24-26 F, but I slept warm and toastie, wearing everything I owned. My water and filter froze, but I was fine. Two Big Thumbs up! Great value!

I love Aegismax sleeping bags! I bought my Nano 2 shortly after it was released and couldn't find any reviews, so great to see one out now. I also own the Aegismax Mini and pick and choose what I take depending on the season. Mini for summer/crowded huts. Nano 2 for three season tenting and huts in colder places. Then if it's going to be below zero I'll pack both - combined weight of 1.4kg and together they cost less than anything top of the line and I've never once been cold!

Great to hear your feedback on the Nano 2! I'm planning on combining the Nano 1 and 2 for the really cold nights (last week would have been perfect for some snowhole-ing but we were in lock down 😔).

I bought a Nano2 two years ago and become an additional one this year as a Christmas present. It was a mistake, because I wanted a Nano in addition to my nano2. So I have now two Nano 2. The older one is like yours. The newer one looks better. I has not anylonger the orange plastic Zipper drawer. It´s now a white cord drawer. The height of the chambers are now a little bit reduced, without getting less loft. It looks instead like 0,5cm more. But the down keep now stable at their place. That prevent cold spots. Furthermore the zipper has become a harder stripe to prevent snagging and the material outside prevents a bit better windy conditions. In addition is the new material on both sides more down resistent, but on the inner side it´s now a little bit more like plastic, but feels not longer velvety. The older one has on the other side a lot more potential for overfill, because the chambers has to much height for the fill. I put allready 100g extra down inside (900fp) and it has now overall +3 cm more loft and feels awesome without moving feathers. But with the newer one, I think to put again 50g-100g more inside the older version (150g all in all) to fill the bag complete (top& downside) with around 17-18 cm loft in each chamber, (the upper part could be more) for the winter or freezing conditions with all in all 900g and a lot of space. Now I got two really different and awesome sleepingbags for a really cheap buy. The newer one can also be overfilled, but I think the limit is around 15-16cm (in each buffle, not only the upper section), what enough is for a few degrees below freezing as a cold sleeper. The problem is, you can´t see on Ali which one you will get delivered, but both versions has an advantage.
@kberlin4221
@kberlin4221 8 ай бұрын
Ok, try it and with 600g Down is the older bag full and has around 18cm in the uper section and 15-16 in the lower, but a lot more bloated. I took around 10g from the 200g and fill the zippertube. The last 50g brings more form than loft, so I suggest the sweetspot is around 525g-550g for the older one. All together you will get the best result in comparision to the additional weight. You can fill with less then 200g the uper side full, but not the lower. In the most cirumstances it is an advantage to have a thiner at the back and a thicker side at the front. But until 600g it´s not an overfill, only a fill. I turn a round a lot and like the same fill at the back. I hope with the fill I can easy sleep until -5C, thats enough for me in the Wintertime. If somebody get the newer version and want more down, so i think 50g is enough to get the best result, because the buffles are not so high.
@AdventureLite
@AdventureLite 5 ай бұрын
Wow! Thanks for the really good advice! Can I ask how you added the extra down? Did you unstitch a seam or cut open and restitch?
@kberlin4221
@kberlin4221 5 ай бұрын
I cut/unstich the seam open in the middle of the inside with a seam ripper. This part is visible because the seam extends outwards for a length of approx. 20cm. But I only unstich 10cm. After filling, you can easily sew it closed with a sewing machine or by hand in 5 minutes. @@AdventureLite
@kberlin4221
@kberlin4221 5 ай бұрын
Filling is easy with a kitchen roll and a garbage bag into which the roll is glued with tape at the bottom. The down goes into the garbage bag and is pushed through the roll with a stick. With the roll you can go into the upperside or the downside. All chamber of one side are connected, but i preffer to push potions of down with the roll in each chamber. Otherwith you have to shake the sleepingbag a lot ;) (The construction is like bagpipes with one pipe)
@kberlin4221
@kberlin4221 5 ай бұрын
For the zippertube you need an extracut at the lower end of the tube, with a scissor. You can easily cut the last mm. I started with the zippertube. I use also the garbagebag-bagpipe to fill. But please don´t compress the bag, use a thin 30cm stick instead.

I have this bag (long) and also the original regular length green bag they first came out with. I am keeping them in a lightweight survival kit I have in my truck. The green bag is rated by me at 50F (10C) and the Nano2 is rated by me at 35F (2C). With the green bag inside the blue bag and that inside a 2GoSystems bivy that has a reflective inside surface that adds 15F to the setup, I rate the kit at O degrees F (-17C). All temperature rating assume that there is an insulated pad or evergreen fronds on the ground and a tent, tarp or bivy bag to block wind. It weighs slightly over 3 lb. I never enter a sleeping bag without at least a medium or light base layer on my body. The bag material will get sticky if it is against my skin.

Thanks for the feedback, always good to hear other people's experiences of gear. I had the original aegismax mini (green) and the aegismax M2 (blue) - both of which were upgraded with the release of the Nano 1 and the Nano 2. That's an interesting perspective. I tend to sleep in thermals (think of them as PJs) from autumn through to spring for the warmth (esp if I need to get up during thd night for any reason) and to keep the bag a bit cleaner (alternative to a sleeping bag liner). They also double up as emergency base layers on a final day of a multiday hike if my clothes are soaked through. Hope you enjoy the G1, it looks like another really good bag 👍

I was skeptical when I first received mine because how thin it was when taking it out of the sack. It does fluff up and decent amount after 15 minutes. It’s not the most durable stitching but it’s good enough, especially for the price. I did notice a feather coming out but I’m assuming that’s normal once in a while. All in all I was shocked how much warmth it kept inside the bag. My only worry is if it’s durable enough to last a year or two.

It is really warm! Regarding the fabic most ultralight bags use really light weight fabrics (10 or 15 denier) which do require some care to prevent rips etc. I use a 3ful tyvek bivi bag to provide some extra protection.

Really glad I found this review! Do you have any idea if the one that's 180 cm is also 10 cm longer? I'm 6 ft so the 180 cm should fit and I'm really looking to lower my pack weight so the extra 120g off makes me really consider buying the 180 over the large one.
@AdventureLite

Thanks Tim, I'm not sure about the medium bag - someone in the comments bought one and gave some feedback. I think they were about 5ft 10 and the medium size just fitted over the head. The 180 bag might work for you if you were happy with it clinched over your shoulders with your head exposed (I do this with the nano 1 medium)

Super review of the 2. I’m pondering over which to get, both the nano and nano 2 are available at 86cm wide, what isn’t clear off the pictures is how wide the rest of the bag is. Which has the most leg wiggle room ? The nano, going off the images, looks wider than the nano 2. I’m really stuck what to do as I’m not a far of the right mummy style bags. Half of me says get the nano2 and be warm when it’s colder and use as a blanket when hot but the other half of me says get the roomier bag which appears to be the nano and layer up more if it’s chilly.
@AdventureLite
@AdventureLite 3 жыл бұрын
I've got the Nano 1 in a medium (too small) and the Nano 2 in a large (although a medium would probably have been a better fit as the large is massive!). The large Nano 2 is very spacious around the shoulder and legs - and I use it like a quilt 80% of the time (only zip it up if the temp drops to 0°C). I use the Nano 1 zipped up about 80% of the time as it's chilly once the temp drops below 10°C. In my mind the Nano 2 is far better value.

@@AdventureLite cheers for getting back to me mate. The nano medium is too small but the nano 2 large too big . You’re making it more difficult 😂😂 like you say, bang for buck it’s the nano 2. Probably worth the little extra bulk and weight in summer for its better performance if it gets cold. I’m not 1 for wearing lots of layers at night so it’s sounding like the nano 2. At least there’s only 1 colour option to not make that a bloody difficult decision an all 😃

Hey, I have been using Nano L (red) during summer for some 5 years already and I am thinking of getting NANO 2 L for my GF. I have the same thoughts on the NANO temp ratings, which makes this video very informative for me! Did you try zipping both bags together? I wonder if the zipper length is similar. There's a list of certified companies on the RDS website. textileexchange.org/standards/find-certified-company/rds-certified/ Most of the accredited down suppliers are from China (by-product of duck / geese for food). Amongst that list are 8 down suppliers in Nanjing / Jiangsu where Aegismax (aka Nanjing Wingma Outdoor Sports www.aegismax.com.cn/) are based. Aegismax would need massive quantities of down which means they'd probabley have to source it from one of these companies producing it on an industrial scale but there's no guarantee.
