Been running dire avengers in all of 10th as a 10 man squad and had a lot of fun with them so it's nice to see them get some love

16:00 by RAW I think you are correct, Proxy. You can’t use “free” Overwatch from Azurmen first, in that case you just fill “slot” for Overwatch and can’t use it later that turn.

I'm running DA+Asurmen since the start of the edition - and they've made some really nice plays for me. I feel like they perform best on an objective if it is on a passive flank - because they deal with the occasional Battleline unit easy - but they evaporate if they get in the way of the main army. Also their great overwatch doesnt help into tanks barreling down on them 😅 Thanks for showcasing my favourites, Proxy&DoN 😊

Karandras + 10 Scorpions is also quite tasty into Ork Boys. Should kill around 14.5 on the charge assuming they have 5++, 5+++. More like 16 if you shoot their pistols as that averages at about 1.4 more.

Hi Proxy, I have been playing around with the Craftworld themed army list. And was surprised at what came together for the Alaitoc: Illic Karandras 3x 10 Voidreavers 3x 10 Rangers 3x 6 Shroud Runners 2x 10 Striking Scorpions 3x Warwalkers The Complete Army has Scout and Infiltration. I love playing around with themed army lists. Greetings

Dude love that list! Lots of shenanigans to play around with as well! The voids can be put in serpents as well to give them scout and a bit more anti large!

Do we need to add the Prince to this list? I've though of similar lists involving Yriel himself. Also this list is primed to just block out opponents deployment zone so they cant move haha Love it!

I have been running an Ynnari list lately were I use 3 msu mandrakes for scoring and 2-3 units of wind riders and 2 kabalites units for anti-infantry fire. This list did well and I went 3-0 in my local tournament beating custodes, space marines and the green tide. What I noticed is I did great vs any type of infantry but the bright lances and dark lances aren't 100% reliable so bring a lot and bring haywire. Now I'll have to give a try to the dire avengers. I was already working on the idea of 3 msu of dire avengers for screening and thining out enemy units. Great video.

been taking a break from 10th ed, but i came to let you know the George meme is fantastic XD. Playing mostly 9th ed boarding actions & dnd these days. I'm mainly waiting until i get list-building flexibility back (points-per-model, psychic power choices, etc) OR until 10th ed boarding actions gets fixed, i know it might be a while so im 3d printing in the meantime. still pointing ppl your way cuz u da best

I have been running DA with Asurmen regularly, within and out of a wave. I find you get more out of them by keeping them out (if there isn't an indirect threat). This way you get the benefit of assault and lethal helping clearing out an objective before taking it. If you dump them on an objective from a wave, even with a free overwatch they don't tend to kill enough SM equivalent and generally die. Asurmen has however cleared up various combats, and then gone on to charge lone operatives and small units on home objectives. DA are definitely better on a side objective unless you're giving them substantial support (I like a wraithlord as they can overwatch with the flamers and not many opponents rush in with a big melee threat).

I have run Dire Avengers successfully a couple of times and, I do love Asurmen. My issue is that a lot of the armies I regularly come up against have infantry at toughness 5, 4 minimum and 3/2 wounds. So DA's are always wounding on 5's or 4's. Lethal hits on 6's just don't put enough wounds through even with 39 shots to make a big enough dent. At least in my experience. Strength 6 multiple wound weapons are where I need to put my points for anti-infantry. So I am going with the bikes. My local meta is very marine heavy...

If only in my local group I ever got to play against anything that Avengers are good against. It's basically all flavours of marines, and Dire Avengers tend to not do much damage and then utterly fold against those. In my small friend group I face: Ultramarines x2 Black Templars Word Bearers CSM Emperor's children CSM Grey Knights Custodes Recently someone who plays Imperial Guard joined in, Avengers will probably do great against his infantry. I tried these against a few of my marine playing friends though, and they've never ever impressed me. I think that's a very real detriment to any unit though. With how many factions out there are different colours of Marines, I really think you're gimping yourself if you bring these to a more competitive tournament setting. For 10 more points Hawks are really just better in just about every single way. With how prevalent cover is the -1AP Avengers get means very little in a lot of cases.

I suggest rocking some vypers, they are cheap and stripping cover to get that ap -1 in is so valuable I feel, especially vs marines. Stripping cover for Dar is so sneaky good! Try using the DAs more as a support unit, they really shine in that role, kind of like when I was talking about spiders or windriders with them. They are also just straight assholes out of strat reserves. And the melee out of Asurmen is about as solid as it gets for Dar. Let us know how it goes!!

@@DeadofNight40K My Ynnari gunboats list for today doesn't have any DAs in it, but I'll keep it in mind! Thx for the tips, I do really want these to shine, and I guess I'm living in the past a little, remembering them for their 4th ed bladestorm xD And you're right, Asurmen's melee slaps!

3 overwatch in a turn... one unit of wind riders with Farseer Skyrunner first overwatch... Dire avengers with Asurmen, second overwatch... Storm guardians with a warlock and Autarch fusion gun with Fate s messenger for a third Overwatch at short range. Superlative strategist. Is it Ok ? I agree with the fact that we didn t dig enough about warp spiders potential

Unfortunately Fire Overwatch isn't a "Battle Tactic" so the Balance Dataslate made the Autarchs ability to use a strat again mostly useless other than Go to Ground or CP re-roll.

Ya unfortunately can’t use the autarch to use Overwatch as it is not a battle tactic but double LFR or grenade is good

Is this advice mainly for 2k games? I love my blue broomheads, but I find they've underperformed at 1k. Still, some of the math I've done has them as really effective shooting trade pieces.

Yes this is for 2k games I’m not sure Avengers really perform well at 1k
