Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with an Aeolian Legato Workout. The trio of scale workout videos that were posted last weekend did really well and I received a mountain of feedback/comments and requests for more material like those lessons, and I wanted to add this legato-based Aeolian workout to the mix - so let's dive in!
This episode revolves around the popular/common Natural Minor Scale (a.k.a. the Aeolian mode), and centers around a specific fingering of this scale that creates an interesting situation on the fretboard that is perfect for working on legato movements and technique. This includes plenty of work using the third and pinky fingers of the frethand, which seems to be everyone's weakest frethand finger combination. Once the general motif and melodic sequence are revealed, then we're shifting the initial idea around the fretboard to discover other positions and locations.
If you're searching for some useful technique work surrounding legato playing on the guitar, a fan of the previous scale workouts in this series, or maybe just a player looking for some new things to practice and add to their practice sessions, look no further - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
