Is that rigged to a tree? If so how do you properly do it
@kianalavallee93288 жыл бұрын
+Nikita Corbin You should never rig from a tree. You can't guarantee the health or strength of the tree. If it's that important, you'd need an arborist to inspect the tree and then a professional rigger to fix it. Silks need to be rigged to withstand thousands of lbs of force, as does the structure you're rigging it from.
@alyhomewood17478 жыл бұрын
Yeah, tree rigging is really common but 99% of the time, not safe. To quote one of my favorite articles "Unless you're a professional rigger with an arborist for a best friend, tree rigging is a terrible idea." With some drops for instance, even if you're not a heavy person, you're easily putting a good 7,000-10,000 lbs of force on your rig point. People have died from rigging their aerial apparatus from trees that looked fine, but ended up snapping. Bottom Line: It's really beautiful and a hell of a lot cheaper than studio time, but it's not worth death or serious injury, so don't rig from trees.
@pukkamumma8 жыл бұрын
yeah as a former arborist and current silks instructor, it did concern me how dead this tree was! Please people take care!

I did ariel silks as a kid but I quit after dislocating my elbow. Today my friend invited me to her birthday party which happens to be at a place that has ariel silks and I’m nervous but super excited, I’m still quite strong/flexible as I am a dancer, but it’s been 10 years since I’ve done ariel!!!

Pretty - combining two things I like: pretty dancing, and the great outdoors. I can't do a straddle-up yet, but will in the future I'm sure. One piece of feedback: when you point your toes, try instead to think of pointing your whole foot. But in general, awesome :)

Beautiful routine! You move with such confidence! My aerials gym has just closed down and the only other option in my town is even more expensive. I'm considering buying my own silks and using a tree to practice outdoors... Do you have any advice? What do you look for when you choose a branch? Have any park officials ever given you grief for practicing on a tree? Also, how do you get to the branch to rig the spanset?

How do you rig silks up to the tree?
@GreenMarble11 жыл бұрын
Where do you find classes? I've always been interested in the flying trapeze and recently found aerial silks. Is it advisable to set something up in my living room? Is there a specific silk that should be used? I've been searching for the answers to these questions but find only vague replies. Please forgive me if these are obvious to you.

It can be dangerous, but that is why I don't practice anything that hasn't been taught to me by a professional. As long as you are knowledgable about the moves you are executing and have the strength and endurance to do them, it can be safe! Look up local aerial arts or circus arts studios. It is so much fun!
