Melbourne University, Dookie campus (formerly known as Dookie Agricultural College) is an agricultural campus of Melbourne University near the town of Dookie, Victoria Australia.
The University of Melbourne’s Dookie campus is Victoria’s oldest and Australia’s second oldest agricultural college.
It was established as the Dookie Agricultural College on 4 October 1886, operated by the Council of Agricultural Education. The establishment followed a decade of discussion about the possibility of establishing an agricultural college, with the pre-existing Dookie Experimental Farm site reserved in 1875. It was the first of a planned series of agricultural colleges in Victoria and at its opening, had forty students undertaking a three-year course.

Thank you for sharing this, I did two subjects at Dookie back in 1999 for my Horticulture Science degree. This clip brings back lots of fond memories. The campus back then had its own primary for kids of students. It would be good to do an undergraduate and postgraduate at this campus. The canteen delivered hot food for students.

The new accommodation being built looks very snappy - I'm guessing they are expecting a larger pool of students from overseas !

That you for your video about Dookie Agriculture Campus. - University of Melbourne. My great grandfather ,Joseph Henry Knight , was involved during the very early years. I believe he was the local representative on the Council of Agricultural Education. I only have one photo of him from a family album so after seeing your video am hopeful the museum at Dookie may have others.

Absolutely go visit, as they have a museum (not open when I was there) ... They're likely to have a log of all the students and teachers that ever went there. Glad you enjoyed it as I would assume many farmers went through the campus !
