On this occasion my young adult son and I transport a motorhome from Melbourne to Adelaide and explore a few locations on the way.
We get to do some father / son bonding and visit some towns and places of interest in those 3 days we are allocated to complete the delivery.
Travelling from Portland towards Serviceton Victoria, we came across many abandoned homesteads - This was just one homestead we stopped at.

The farming community were terrific here; they asked if we broke down and needed help. When I said we stopped to film and admire the old homestead, they pointed out more nearby !

A few of you hit the nail on the head and are absolutely right or had the same conclusion as I after viewing the footage at home; homestead not so old, steel window frames, updated laminex kitchen and orange / brown fittings that was a late 70's / 80's decor design

I think it's just a 60's70's home. The white blocks are a competitor to cinder block of the time.

absolutely; after looking at the footage at home, the other giveaway of a more ''modern home" is the steel window frames and the laminex kitchen was a late 70's / 80's thing ... also no garage or driveway to the house !

Going on a limb here. Satellite dish indicates usage no more than 25 years ago. The little sign on the inner back door that said ‘please shut the door” to me is not normal for a house. It’s more office like. I wonder if it was used as a site or business office. I notice some large one plantations behind you. Related? There back garden has absolutely no indication it was residential. No washing line. No little garden plants a resident would normally have.

Absolutely - maybe a rental for the farmer or for the forestry owner workers ... note the steel window frames and laminex kitchen ... the house might be one relocated from elsewhere !

xr6lad, the 'please shut the door' might have meant there were kids. we had the sign on our back door.

definately not sandstone. the bricks appear to be calcium silicate bricks called calsil in wa. they used to be common but i dont think they are available anymore. they tolerate alkaline water getting sprayed on them but not acidic water which causes them to rot. they are just made of white sand and cement. they were a very cheap way to build your own house once apon a time. you bought molds and made your own bricks. there used to be more but now only a couple of houses built out of home made bricks in my area. there was a company making them as well. i had a job there for a few days 30 years ago stacking bricks.

terrific - I wasn't 100% sure what sort of bricks they were - thanks
