Just bought the used GM I and have no regrets. Open Box from B&H with a 1yr warranty for 1500. I take large landscapes and no video so the features in GM II while being nice (especially weight) weren't worth that much of a price difference.

Thanks for the video! What filter are you using?

Sold my original 16-35 GM when the Tamron 17-28 came out. But this v2 seems to address the things I didn’t like about the v1. Will likely swap again. Thanks for the video.

Glad it was helpful, what was it like going from the 16-35 to the 17-28? Anything you noticed?

@@keith-knittel the 17-28 is much lighter, so that was a huge factor. I found the Tamron image to be a little more pleasing for my taste. And no lens creep with the Tamron.

Fantastic video, mate. Super helpful. One question: did you have Focus Breathing Compensation turned on during the outdoor face tracking test shots? I couldn't see any focus breathing at all when you were putting the GM I through it's paces - which is the exact opposite to my own experience. I find the focus breathing of GM I is so extreme the footage is basically unusable - though I'm shooting on A7Siii, which has only just recently been given Focus Breathing Compensation, and I haven't had the chance to experiment with it properly. But the lack of focus breathing in the GM II is a big selling point for me, and I really appreciate you demonstrating it!

Sorry just saw this - focus breathing compensation was turned on, but now I’m thinking I should have turned it off! I’ll have to add (or actually remove) that to future lens tests, thanks for pointing that out!

@keith-knittel i finally got around to experimenting with the Focus Breathing Compensation feature added to the as7 iii in the recent firmware update. I'm happy to report it has completely fixed the breathing issue I was having with the 16-35 GM I. I can't tell you how happy I am with the improvement. Sony have just done themselves out of a lens upgrade!
