I didn’t even know of the existence of “aerial” exercise/ stretch. I was looking for a specific garden hammock I used while staying in a resort. OMG! Can’t wait to order the equipment and get into stretching ASAP! I recently realized how stiff I have become over the years. I am not interested on aerial dances or tricks, but stretching is ideal!!! I’ll join in once I am properly set up to begin. Thank you!

I love using the hammock just for stretches too, but of course I focus more on getting comfortable moving around the hammock, it gives me goals to work toward with my flexibility and strength =) Look forward to see your setup!

Really great simple video of giving us the absolute basics without talking to us like we’re dumb for not getting it right on the first try or knowing automatically how to do something most instructors would just skim over - even in an intro class. For that, you definitely earned a subscriber. …..seriously, your description of how to just stand up on the silk was brilliantly thought out with absolutely zero condescension! I found myself watching and wondering why you’d move your foot forward and lean back when you want to stand up, and then you, so gracefully, sat back and swung the back leg forward while straightening - which of course left you in a standing position 😱. Then it dawned on me like an AH HA moment - it was perfect! Generally, you just never thought about it when you were a kid on the playground, each small step broken down succinctly. Absolutely brilliant!
@aerialpractice2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Crystal. I am so happy to hear that you find it helpful. I don't have the same experience where instructors dumb down their talk, but my experience is more that the instructors have become too familiar to understand what it's like for people who are not. Why I decided to share the way I learn things because I really need it to be very simple and clear, which now I find that I am not the only one!

@aerialpractice3 жыл бұрын
@@margaretseward1874 I would not rely on towels for sure. Safety mat costs I know, but any injury will cost you more in terms of your medical bills, unnecessary pain, and also mental stress. You may feel safe at times, but it would be too late to grab the safety mat at the moments when you feel unsafe. So I would for sure not continue if I didn't have the right equipment to ensure my safety.

Wait, you have a fear of heights? How did you overcome your fear and how long did you take to overcome? You look so confident and graceful! I always wanted to try aerial, I recently went to an aerial yoga class. After doing some stretches, we were told to stand on the hammock. I managed to stand on it but I was trembling in fear. I then managed to hook my left ankle with the hammock and stand back in after much encouragement from the instructor but I just can’t seem to move my right leg. I was paralysed with fear. Before chancing upon your video, I didn’t know it’s possible to install aerial hammock at home! But I don’t think I have the space though. I’m still contemplating if I should sign up for a physical course, on one hand I’m super fearful and on the other I want to challenge myself. But what if I freak out again😅

I have 4 hammocks particularly for different height need. So when I am setting it up, I always make it a little shorter because as you put weight on it it will get stretch out.
