It's clear that both are beautiful, but for those wondering why the characters are calling Tifa pretty and Aerith plain, it's because humans desire what they don't see often, and Tifa has red eyes (which don't exist in real life) and completely black hair (which is also rare), Aerith has brown hair (which is pretty common) and green eyes (which is not that common but not rare either), that's why the characters in the game think that Tifa looks more exotic, rare sometimes means desirable.

It was bizarre, multiple charaters say she's ugly. And make Tifa seem like the gold standard. Every woman at the honeybee inn has ample assets and good looking faces. So the beauty standard seems too be big boobs mostly. (But to be honest even npcs in the background loik like average ppl. So no one is actually ugly unless they're made too be in the game) But it's weird, Tifa has shiny smooth hair (jessies looks good as well)....and aeriths looks dry and a bit damaged. It made me wonder .....is it just from her living in midgar? It sucks the life from the area around the city. Do things like that affect aerith? Like a flower that doesn't get enough sunlight? Or does Tifa just have better hair care and makeup? 😅

@PHXNTXM is not terrible, but I couldn't tell if it's just 1 more thing to put Tifa as "perfect" or if there was an actual effect on aerith being in that city. It's not crazy ratty, but her twist braid has a lot of hair sticking out. The game literally says she's homely, rags on her outfit, and make up. While always praising tifas looks. It just seems weird enough that it could be them pushing Tifa more or there's am actual reason and we see how the open non drained world affects aerith. I'd like to see the world around her impact her, since she can grow flowers when other ppl can't. The game raises moe questions that don't get answered yet. I hope part 2 is less heavy on the girls falling al over cloud and more character building for them all.

Imagine you encounter a similar flower peddler in the real world. She lives in the slums district, having no makeup, no skin care product, malnourished, lack of knowledge about the technology and other information. She doesn't even have a cell phone. She spends most of her day wandering the streets to sell flowers, exposing herself to the polluted environment of Midgar, constantly bothered by invisible entities. Have you guy ever paid attention to the first impression Cloud had when she interrupted him in the street, waving the flower before him? He ignored her completely. There's a reason for that! Most - if not all - NPCs in the game were made to look good to the player, even the villains. It doesn't mean that their look is actually good in their own world's standard. It's an illusion! Don't let it get to you! Focus on defeating Sephiroth!

I also hate the fact they say Cloud and Tifa are a family while knowing they have separate bedrooms and Barret is living with them too. According to Case of Tifa (which is obviously canon so they can't deny it) they're just friends and when Tifa asks him if Cloud loves her, he remains silent. The truth is that neither tifa nor aerith knows what cloud truly is like all tifa know is what cloud was like when he was a teenager on a surface level she never knew much about cloud on a personal level and they’ve known each other for a long time but the time they spent together well to sum it all up wasn’t enough to know much about each other that much for tifa to know what cloud really is like. Take it as you made a new friend but you’ve known them way before they were friends with you and have a crush on them and now that you’re friends for a couple of months now have spent a fair amount of time together suddenly the other one moves out without any notice and comes back in your life after 5 years, that’s how tifa and clouds relationship past 5 years was like. As for aerith she understands cloud pushes him out of his comfort zone and encourages him even she doesn’t know what cloud actually is like and admits it and wants to know more about him and this is not a personal interpretation or something this is exactly how it gives off tifa doesn’t understands cloud she does at times but mostly she doesn’t that’s why neither is tifa fit for cloud but if post the scenes of AC cloud redevelops his feelings towards tifa they can be a potential couple. If they really want to make an 'ugly' female character they REALLY need to put their backs into it and really mean it. Making aerith canonically the 'ugly duckling' of the franchise speaks a lot of how game devs are not daring enough when it comes variations in female character designs

Gian RB Not really....besides the intro scene of the dress which you see in this video all the rest plays out exactly the same. Cloud always gets picked no matter what unlike the original.
