These lyrics were written to be from specific scenes in the ORIGINAL game (not Crisis Core, but the original Final Fantasy 7) Aerith's life in the slums, her first meeting with Cloud that ended up starting her journey, her appearance in his dream as she ventured alone into the City of Ancients to summon Holy, the great sorrow her comrades felt when she died, and her ever-supportive presence even from the lifestream.

@@dark_fire_ice Hi! This is unfortunately a very common misunderstanding. Cloud never became Zack. He only took his SOLDIER persona, but never his emotions nor his memories. He even has a speech about it in the OG. And if you have played CC, you can see that Cloud and Zack are the complete opposites of each other. Zack was outgoing, flirty and cheerful and Cloud was more shy and awkward. So he definitely did not become Zack nor got any of his memories. He didn't remember Aerith when he met her for the first time. I assume you have finished the remake, it made many things even more clear than before. Aerith was first attracted to Cloud because he reminded him of Zack but then she realized how different they are and she fell even more in love with Cloud. "Gotta look forward, not back". I never knew I could love Aerith's theme more than I already do. The lyrics captures Aerith's selfless love for Cloud. They may be apart but she's always there to heal, protect and support him. And this is kind of parallel to "Hollow" which is Cloud's song for her.

Yes! My thoughts exactly! It's crazy how some of it relates to Remake. Such as the mention of "hollow eyes" and the "it may be destiny that sheds our tears" (made me think of when Cloud sheds a tear after the little glitch of her walking away) And "the night howls inside of you" and Cloud talking about hearing enough howling (in game) and in Hollow how he'll go on howling 😭 Never thought one of my old faves could become even more emotional. Mad props to Kate/Erutan for creating this so long ago and yet it relates to Remake so perfectly.

I used to listen to this song all the time. I had it linked to my blog so every time someone entered, it would start playing. I found it randomly, I had no idea who Aerith was or where did it come from, I just liked it. Matthew Tran I watched my dad die of a sudden seizure-induced heart attack when I was 17, and we were the only ones in the house at that time. I don't really have many regrets like you do because he knew I loved him, but the fact remains that he will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry, or get angry, and it really hits home that he wasn't able to live to see his children grow up and have kids of their own, and he absolutely loved his great nephews, and kids in general. This song makes me get really emotional too because of that.

+Matthew Tran I know what its like to lose a loved one. My stepmother passed away in July of last year. She treated me like one of her own children and yet, I was to stubborn to accept it. It was only after her passing that I was able to see it. Ever since then, I now know whats its like to lose a mother. I even accept her son and daughter as my brother and sister instead of step siblings. When I heard this song for the first time, I felt like I could hear my stepmother voice throughout this song. I couldn't help but to cry because she always gives out words of wisdom that I can understand. I'll always love Aerith, she was that light who give hope and who says to me "everithing is gonna be fine" when she was kidnaped in midgar i did everything to save her, i remembered well that i didn't sleep that night until i have her back to the team. Then in Gold Source that moment with Cloud almost made me cry but i didn't do it because i was very busy thinking "c'mon Cloud wake up! Can't you see that she loves you? And finally when i was in the ancient temple i was excited and anxious because i wanted to get Aerith back and when i saw her, in that kind of altar, praying i was like "there she is, i made it, omg she is so beautiful and then... :( that moment... sephiroth apears from the sky, kill Aerith, the music start to play and i was like "no No NOOOO!!! It can't be, she is still alive she can't died not like this" i was hopeful until the end And then, in the end when Cloud took her to the the water i realised "it's over, she's really dead. :'( in that moment THAT was the only moment when i cry playing a ff game because i played others ff games but nowone touch me like this I remembered saw Cloud furious and i was just like him i just thought "Sephiroth I WILL KILL YOU!" That's the effect that ff games have on the player and just like Cloud anger was refleted in me, Aerith happiness, joy and power of will were refleted in me I will NEVER forget Aerith I will always remember her, not in that sad moment but since the moment when i met her until the moment when a realised that she gave her life for me(Cloud) Thank you for sharing this video The lyrics are really beautiful Thank you very much :)

Kelsey Curles yes the conection between Aerith and Zack was touching no doubt about that. After all he was her first "boyfriend" but i'm just saying that i think that Aerith must have saw the aura of Zack in Cloud and after a little while she fell in love with him. But that is just my opinion ;)

I agree, watching Aerith's death 15 years ago really pulled at my little 13 year old heart strings and to this day I can't listen to that song without getting teary-eyed. However I do still wonder why Cloud didn't just use a phoenix down, I know I had plenty in my inventory lol. I just wish there had been a way to save her because she, Tifa and Cloud were my main party members up until then and it seemed like I just wasted time leveling her and taking her on that date. I wasn't even ten years old when I first played Final Fantasy VII. I wept so hard when Aeris/Aerith was killed in the game. Every time I play it, even now as an adult fourteen years later, I still weep for that woman. Your song hurts in that same fashion. For a long time after playing FF7, I always cried to Aerith's theme until quite recently. But you writing this song for it... I got to admit, you put tears to my eyes when I listen to this song again. It's sooo beautiful, and you did an amazing job. You are truly talented. Thank you for the great work, your lyrics i think really really fits the song. Beautiful voice... A stunning compilation of the cut-scenes too. the whole thing is absolutely amazing. Captured her perfectly. I love how you were able to jump right inside her head and know exactly what she was more than likely thinking, going through, and dealing with. especially cool since from our perspective she basically just up and left with out a word after the temple. This song reminds me of the first time I watched Advent Children. I knew nearly nothing about the story of FFVII but the spirit of Aerith coming back to Cloud every once in a while made me shed a tear a few times. And this song...it's like in the movie. I listen to the lyrics and now (after playing FFVII and every spinoff) I understand and it's even more touching. Amazing job you've done there. Would like to have a CD of your remix collection...
