I just set one of the 9 bay 40 watt light bulb units yesterday. What I did was just put something in my case a box, to block off a bunch of that light.

You're supposed to cut the start leaf's if you read it . So they become bushy and not all tall and stringy

It was a good review but there were a few things that I would have liked covered ... like the height of the light. Another review said there wasn't enough space to get a pitcher of water under the light so I'm wondering why this wasn't found as a negative in your review or maybe you didn't find it a a problem. A couple others said the screen quit working. I'm wondering if the seeds are from "dwarf" plants or something because the Basil I plant in my garden grows pretty tall and 12" is really low. I would think they would at least have the level of the light to be adjustable to maybe 18"+. I want one of these but still find so many negatives about most of them and wonder why the manufacturer doesn't take a few minutes to figure out the negatives and less people would be so unhappy with them.

Good morning, thanks for the comment. I'll try to address some of your concerns, but I have a few videos on the AeroGarden that talk about different aspects of it. A more complete all around review can be watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noHGhqmubLJgg9U Height: This particular model is adjustable. From 11-17 inches, which includes the base. This gives approximately 6-12in for the plants. I've found that this is good for most plants (herbs and lettuce), and gives plenty of room to fill with water, prune, etc. Any taller and it wouldn't fit under my kitchen cabinets. Screen: I've had my AeroGarden for just over 2 years and the screen is working fine, I've had no issues thus far. Plant size: As far as the herbs, I don't think they are a dwarf variety. They will definitely outgrow the AeroGarden if not pruned regularly. Mine reached the light and even went above it at times. Other seed pods, such as tomatoes, I believe are a dwarf variety that allows them to be grown in the AeroGarden. I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any more questions. 🙂 Thanks for watching 😊🌱

is it cost effective to grow herbs for cooking this way? Or better off just buying from the grocery?
@InTheGarden
@InTheGarden 10 ай бұрын
You could buy a lot of herbs for the cost of an Aerogarden. If you use fresh herbs often, you could potentially save money over a long period of time. But for the average person, I would say that buying herbs is probably less expensive. However, having fresh herbs at your fingertips whenever needed is very nice and for many people will justify the cost. Plus it's fun to grow your own. For me personally, it is less cost effective, but still worth the cost. Hope this helps, thanks for watching 😊 🌱

What kind of plant food are you using? The tiny bottle that came with my aerogarden is sooo expensive that I'm looking for other options.

Hi Kenneth, I just use the AeroGarden plant food. The small bottle is kind of expensive, but they do sell it in a larger size which is about 1/3 the price per oz. AeroGarden Liquid Plant Food (1 Liter): amzn.to/3IRIyae *Affiliate Link Other options I've researched run about double what this large size AeroGarden plant food costs per oz.

Can these plants be transplanted to actual dirt later on?
@InTheGarden
@InTheGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they can. However, the normal seed pods are made with plastic that surrounds the growing sponge so that plastic part would need to be removed from the roots before transplanting. The sponge is biodegradable so it can be transplanted along with the plant. There is also a seed starting system that is made to hold the sponges without the plastic case so they can easily be transplanted. Here is a video on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4G0qpKwp7CGa9E Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 😊🌱
